Nikon Coolpix 4600 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
Nikon Coolpix 4600. Lense
Any sand in a compact camera is bad news - repair will be expensive. In your situation, I would continue to use the camera while it still works, and give serious thought to a replacement.
Screen black.
Hello, I went and researched a few points in the manual and hope this helps to some extent. If this doesn't help, try resetting your camera by removing the batteries for 30 seconds, then reinstalling them and turning on the camera again.
Monitor is blank:
• Camera is off.
• Batteries are not correctly inserted or battery-chamber
cover is not properly latched.
• Batteries are exhausted.
• EH-62B AC adapter (available separately) is not properly
connected.
• Camera is in sleep mode. Press shutter-release button
halfway.
• Monitor is off.
• USB cable is connected.
• AV/Video cable is connected
No picture is taken when shutter release button is pressed:
• Camera is in playback mode.
• Batteries are exhausted.
• Red (!) lamp flickers: flash is charging.
• Green (AF) lamp flickers: camera unable to focus.
• Message "CARD IS NOT FORMATTED" appears in
monitor: memory card is not formatted for use in your
camera.
• Message "OUT OF MEMORY" appears in monitor:
insufficient memory to record picture at current Image
mode setting.

Nikon coolpix 4600: How to transfer pictures from camera to card?
ok I figured out how to do it! put the memory card into the camera, then go to view the pictures. Then press the menu button and scroll until you see the copy button. Then you will see the option to copy from camera to card, or card to camera. Press the option to copy from camera to card and press select all....(or whichever pictures you want copied...I wanted all pictures copied). Then voila! it takes a few seconds to copy from the camera to the card, and there you have it! :)
Why my nikon coolpix 4600 do not turn on
Always be sure the batteries are charged and suited for your device.
Check contacts of the batteries and in the battery compartment of your device. Dirty or oxidised contacts can be cleaned with a dry cloth, or a cotton swap. Never use sharp tools to clean contacts or anything sharp in or on electronic equipment.
Always charge batteries before using it for the first time, or if you have not used it for a long period. 3 months is a very long period.
Also check if the battery door is closed correct. there is a switch connected to the battery door. If the switch does not work correct, it could be you can't switch on your camera.
Memory card locked
Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
P100 was working took 1 picture and froze open. white screen won't charge
Perhaps you have an empty battery?
Just remove the battery and try charging it on an external charger. When it is charged, try again. The camera should start with retracting the lens. Perhaps you again should power down and remove the battery for a few seconds after that, but just try it.
Switching of a camera causes it to start again, like a cold boot from a computer.
Monitor your battery, because if the camera shuts down very soon after that, perhaps you need a new battery?
How do i turn off the flash on the nikon coolpix 4600
Press cursor-up (marked with a lightning bolt) to bring up the flash menu, select the lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it to turn off the flash, and press the OK button in the middle of the cursor pad.For full details see the "When Lighting is Poor: Using the Flash" section of the manual (begins on page 24 in my copy). If you need a manual you may download a copy
here.
