Turn the unit off. Press and hold both the power button and the volume button at the same time, until the little yellow-green android robot comes on the screen. You can then release the buttons. You will eventually get a menu (this took a while to come up). Use the Volume button to scroll down to "Reset to Factory Standards", and select by pressing the power button.

is it a tablet?....phone?....laptop??? you dont say. If it is a laptop..make sure you are plugging it into the 'headphone' jack...not the input or mike jack. they all look the same except for color. if itis a tablet...go into the settings and see that the headphone jack is set to 'headphones' and not 'speaker'
It is possible you have a defective headphone jack...there is a small switch build into the jack that disconnects the speakers and turns the headphone audio path to the headphones. sorry..now I see what the device is

sounds like the battery is not charged up or taking a charge, check to see if the adapter is putting out voltage at the plug/pins.

I personally am not skilled in that topic and it would appear that since there were no answers suggested, no one who had that knowledge encountered your question.
Please remember that we are all volunteers and offer help where we think we can.
May I suggest that since you just purchased your product, you direct your question to the retailer that you purchased it from. As a consumer, I'm supposed to have some understanding of what I am purchasing, and I would expect the vendor to have much better knowledge of what they are providing.

We usually close a tab by simply clicking on the X mark on the top-right corner of the tab within a browser.
