Akai DVPS760 DVD Player Questions & Answers
My Akai dvd player shows
Hello,
The reason the player is not reading the disc and showing no disc is either because the disc is not sitting properly on the lens from the disc tray, or the lens is weak or the lens is dirty.
To test if it is the disc tray, open the cover of the player with the appropriate screwdriver, place a disc directly on the tray and apply a little pressure on the tray, if it reads the disc, then it is the tray.
All you have to do is to adjust the disc tray and screw it tightly.
To test if the lens is weak, try several DVD disc on it,and test them also on another tested ok player, if it does not work on your player and works on other players, then the lens is weak.
to fix this, get the appropriate screwdriver, open the cover and unscrew the disc tray.
You will gain access to the lens, carefully disconnect the lens and replace it with a new lens. then it will be ok.
To test if it is just that the lens is dirty, clean the lens with a lens cleaner and test a DVD to see if it will work.
Take care.
No Audio
The yellow, red & white terminals are composite out (old RCA connectors). Yellow is video. Red is right side audio out (line). White is left side audio out (line). You can connect them directly to any TV that accepts composite input. (i.e. Match the colors).
No video on our tv
I found in the manual on page 13 bottom, that if you PRESS STOP buttom for 5 seconds of your remote controller then you can see the picture on the interlaced mode again on your TV.
Otherwise you have to connect you DVD to a unit that has progresiv scan, such as an HDTV, some computers if they have an input or to a projector .
I connected my DVD to a projector thru the VIDEO output and put eveything back to normal, and it is working fine now.
System Reset
Open CD disk tray. Press stop key and hold for 15 seconds, screen will appear.
Hi there, i did something
Hi,
I think you selected 'Progressive Scan' mode in your dvd player if dvd player is hooked with yellow-red-green cable.
And if dvd player is connected with blue-green-red for video (component video connections) and red-white for audio then you selected 'Composite Video' mode in dvd player.
All you need to check current connection setup with TV and hook dvd player in other way to get it picture/ video, then go to Menu and turn Off or On video mode as above mentioned.
Your TV should have normal video input and component video input to get dvd player picture.
In Progressive Scan mode, dvd player sends video output only in component video.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Need Codes for Akai television using Stang F-2100 universal remote.
It is 2023, no one uses Universal Remotes these days!

Codes are to the television maker, they don't change depending on the make of remote used. But as I said, no one buys universals, you buy a copy remote made for the make model you have.

I have a pdp4298ed1 akai TV with a digital antenna screwed into the ant in. How do I scan for digital channel's?
To scan for digital channels on your Akai PDP4298ED1 TV, you can follow these steps:
- Press the "Menu" button on your TV remote.
- Use the arrow buttons to select the "Setup" menu and press "OK".
- Use the arrow buttons to select the "Installation" option and press "OK".
- Select "Automatic Search" or "Auto Scan" and press "OK". The TV will begin scanning for digital channels.
- Once the scan is complete, the TV should display a list of channels that it has found. You can then use the arrow buttons to select a channel and press "OK" to tune to it.
If the auto scan feature does not work, you may need to try a manual scan instead. To do this, follow the same steps as above but instead of selecting "Automatic Search", choose "Manual Search" and enter the frequency of the channel you want to tune to. You can find the frequency information for your local channels by doing a quick online search or checking with your local TV provider.

The reason you're not finding any bad caps is that's not the issue. If it was the set wouldn't power up then shut down, faulty caps don't cause issues like this. One thing that would have helped is the model number but I have a good idea what's causing your issue. When the set is powered on it goes through the boot log sequence, this is stored in the EEPROM that's located on the main board, chances are if you take a can of freeze spray and freeze the IC the set will power up as this IC isn't used once the set has powered on but it would only work one time but it's a way to confirm if this is the issue. If you have advanced solder skills you can order an IC and replace it for under 20 bucks, but it's not something easy to do without the skills or equipment, the other option is replacing the main board, however that may run more than it's worth so buying a new TV may make more sense
