This can be a failure of the power supply and so check the SMPS unit. If not there is a high possibility that the components over a period of heating and cooling, tend to bring on a problem of dry soldering. So my advice is to check the set for some loose joints that have played on to give you these erratic shut downs or poor performance. The best way to check for loose connections is to tap lightly when the set is powered on, if there is change while tapping then it seems that there are DRY solder joints. Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, and use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points. Sometimes the fault occurs when the set warms up; if so you can simulate the heat using a hair dryer on the suspected areas, try with the power supply, distribution, Processor controller, driver controllers on the A/V related sections. Also the use a FREEZE-IT spray can simulate the components to cool and show up the fault. It can also be related to WEAK ELECTROLYTIC capacitors as the value can reduce in time. Based on the above method you must be able to locate the area of fault and solder the sections.

Hi. I have had the same problem for the last 6 weeks on my Lenaro 32"
Have contacted the Grundig Support and they are balaming it on the Digital Receiver. They say that the receiver component is made by Beko and thay have carried out an Over The Air upgrade which has caused this problem. Grundig contract out their services as this is just a trading name.
Their support is not willing to do anything and say that it is down to Beko.

I am now trying to get hold of Beko. After that I am going to contact trading strandards and Watchdog.

I assume that you have attached it via SCART cable...since SCART plugs have 21 pins, and carry video, audio and switching signals ,sometimes a bad connection on either TV side or Top Box side ,the sound goes off first..Make sure your SCART plugs securely fit to either side.
If it does not help pls visit the URL below for further advise before going to blame the Top Box....

This problem unfortunately very common on these TV sets..
As far as I examine the case ,I believe a component on the circuit board is not properly working..
Either there is cold soldering on the board or a dead capacitor may cause this.
Sorry but Your TV needs service..I hope you still have warranty to cover this..

Instead of just unplugging the TV, perform a power drain:
1. Unplug the product's power cable so the device is not grounded to the house. 2. Press and HOLD the product's own power button for 1 minute to drain the capacitors. 3. Plug the product back into a wall outlet and try to turn it on.
Note: This procedure works with battery operated devices as well so remove the batteries and hold down it's power button.  Electricity can remain in capacitors and on circuit boards enough to prevent normal functionality. By clearing the residue electricity, your product will have a fresh start and many times this will resolve a buggy or non-responsive device that appears to be dead.
If the TV still won't turn on, then it appears something is wrong with it's mainboard since the TV is still receiving power because the standby light is still coming on.  The cost of fixing an older TV's mainboard could be costly or impossible if the part is discontinued.

Power on the unit in the dark room then shine with the flashlight directly in the screen, you will barely see the images. This is because your backlight is not functioning. The following reason is the caused.
1. Power supply - missing B+(supply voltage) coming from this board feeding the inverter board. This is caused by faulty transistor, dried/leaky electrolytic capacitor, open fusible resistor.
2. Inverter board - even the B+ is good from the power supply, if the fuse, driver transistor, driver transformer is faulty no output to the backlight resulting to black picture.
3. Busted backlight - even inverter board is good but if this is busted resulting to black picture also.
Diagnosing the fault is technical and if you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't fix it yourself, I would advice you to look for an experienced technician to troubleshoot the symptoms.
