Click start control panel administrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver,roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete After deleting the keys, close the registry editor Reboot your computer Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone. or you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark?! or a red x right click you will need to update the driver or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver hope this helps you

Unless you used it in a pc and used an encrypted data on it ..there is no reason for a Mac to not read the stuff on it ..Even if it can not open the data it still sees it if it is formatted in NTFS ..and if it is formatted in FAT16 or Fat32 the Mac should be able to read it ..The issue that came to my mind is that the hdd experienced some shock and it may need to be formatted again (initiated on mac ) ..First try to see if you can recover the data if you use it on a pc (windows) ..and if it works ..I suggest to save the files and format it (in windows) in Fat 32 to be sure will work in mac too ..after that ..insert it on mac again and see how it's behaving ..
There is the possibility (a very strong one ) that the hdd is gone for good..So ..if you do not need the files on that hdd and you do not have a Pc in handy ..the only option is to try and format it in mac...Follow this instructions..

This should make it readable in both systems ..(if you choose the ms-dos format ) ..or choose another just for mac if you intend to use it only with mac os..

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

Let me understand if you have installed the Drive as the Base drive for OS boot. If that is the case Please check if your hard drive is properly installed with a clean boot os. Secondly you have a Disk Manager available for the Glyph 250 gb on net. Please download the same and try to run a sector scan for the disk to check for disk errors.

Also check if the system has been connected loosely to your board.

Obviously it is not being read. Try reading it from the BIOS unless it is an external drive. The BIOS should read it if it is an internal one. If yes then carryout an auto detection on the drive.

1394 is fire-wire. Some cheaper fire-wire chip-set cards can have minor issues.
Usually they are sorted by removing it and placing it in another slot on the motherboard. If it continues to cause issues then consider a better card..

you could try a program like disk warrior or disk rescue, or you could try giving Glyph a call, they have pretty good warranty coverage.

Hardware failure, nothing you can do will fix it. If you're lucky the fault is in the case's electronics, otherwise the data on the hard disk will be retrievable only by special (and expensive) means. Dismantle the case, extract the hard disk and put it in another external case - if the disk is accessible there then the GT case is dead, if not then the disk is dead. In that case the GT can still be usable - just replace the hard disk with a new one that you can buy from any it shop.
