This happens on mine also. My theory is a relay. If you turn the volume up (Waaay up) momentarily, you "burn through" the oxidation on the relay and the sound comes back - for awhile. Some day, I'll get in there and replace it with something more robust.

Heat?

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

I had the same problem. As soon as the volume reached about 24db it would go into overload. I was able to fix it by soldering all the connections on the larger power module. The one connected the the heat sink. When I took it apart there where several solder points that had come loose.

It's a eur647130. Web searching turns up a bunch of them.

Start by changing the battery's, then if the problem still persists try and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then see if maybe it took, if not then it might me time to replace the remote. I hope this could help. if not please let me know and i will try to help you out.

Hello - There are two possible causes for the error (that don't involve something broken).
The first is that the receiver is not getting enough ventilation (stuck inside a cabinet with no space, etc.) but since you you describe it happening as soon as you turn on the receiver that's very unlikely.
The second and more likely cause is cross connected speaker wire. Remove the speaker wires from both the receiver and speakers and carefully reattach them. Hopefully that will help. Otherwise it looks like you would have a repair decision to make.

Disconnect everything from the receiver and start over. Obviously it was working before you touched it.

If it acts that way with all sources I would suspect a bad switch contact somewhere in the signal path. Typically, it might be a switch you rarely use, like a Tape Monitor or Mute. It's wise to occasionally (with power OFF) manipulate all manual controls throughput their ranges a number of times to wipe oxides from their contacts.

Sounds like you may want something which produces good mid-range and highs,not so much bass but at least clear and audible?And I assume you wanty something small enough for your bookshelf?Bose makes some pretty good stuff with those sound requirements.If that is too pricy for you,I would suggest bringing a CD with you,or if you have a particular channel you listen to,go to some stereo stores and see what they have to fit your needs spacewise and listen to them.If possible,try listening on the same brand as your receiver.You may even want to look at the stuff online first for some of the local stores,the sizes and wattages are normally listed and you may save a trip or 2 to a store that doesn't have anything small enough.If your receiver puts out 100 watts/channel,I would look for 150W speakers to ensure they can handle the power.

sounds like the protection circuit is the problem here which is a good thing because its stopping you from permantly damaging the unit first thing to check would be the impedance of your speakers and then check what your impedance selector is set to on the back assuming you have one be warned that you should never move this switch while the unit is on.My advice would be to unplug it first because that switch plays a direct role in the systems power supply..Hope this works for you
