My memory card wont read on my camera
they aren't compatible for instance your camera will only recognize cards up to 1 gig and your card is a 2 gig card, or your card is bad try it in something like a computer. possibly your camera is bad try a very small card in it and see if it works.
The light doesn't come on when the charger is
When the light does not come on while charging as you suggested might be the battery is dead but even when batteries die the indicator foe charging still comes on.
From a professional point of view i would say it is more likely the charger is spoilt this means the camera does not supply power to the unit.

I'm afraid that USB port has been damaged and is drawing excessive current causing the error message.
You are at least fortunate in that your computers' ports are protected since the camera could have otherwise caused damage.
Using a basic multimeter one could probably measure across the pins 1 & 4 to determine if the camera's input is shorted; it should in no case measure less than 5-6 Ohms regardless of lead polarity.
The current capability of a USB port varies by version but is between 500 & 900 Milliamperes.

Sorry, you can't use this camera as a webcam. Most digital cameras cannot be used as webcams, you can buy an inexpensive webcam for about $25.

My nikon coolpix s4000 screen says battery
i think you should change the battery, my coolpix 4300 had the same problem as yours, and after i replace the battery with the new one, the indicator never showed again
My camera says "battery exhausted"
No guarantees, but I suggest you scrub the battery contacts with a standard pencil eraser and try again.
The current drawn by our modern electronics is so little that even a light film of oils from our fingers can cause intermittent contact.
It says that my memory
Take a look on the left hand side of your SD card. You should see yellow orange switch that stands out from the blue of the rest of the card.
When it is in the down position then the card is write protected.
Slide the switch up and you should be able to write images to the card without a problem.
... unless the card is toast.
