Mildew tasting water from water dispenser

Try running dome bleach through the dispenser. Might have a build up in the outlet line, after the filter.

I have a jenn air

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
The ref. temp should be about 33-35
The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
The icemaker is 110v
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking or no water at icemaker or door either one, then the valve at the rear bottom of ref needs replacing
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Before it started tripping the circuit breaker what was your refrigerator doing that was not normal? Usually, before something fails massively it will give you hints it is coming. Did your ice maker or lights stop working? Has the compressor been running an excessively long time?

What trips a breaker is the unit drawing more current that what the breaker is listed at. So something in the unit has shorted to cause this to happen. Although the first thing we check in a situation like this is the compressor circuit it isn't always the cause.

Where do you install the filter for the ice maker

Hi,

Ususally the best place to install the filter is in the water line going to the refrigerator....

If you can get it in the line at a place that is always accessible it makes it easier to change it every few moths...

Cut the water line and just use compression fitting or if it has the push in fittings the istall is even easier...

Seems the freezer door was

when you closed the door, the freezer froze all the condensation/melting ice, hence the icemaker freezing.
the best solution is a TOTAL defrost/clean out, then dry out.DO NOT USE HOT WATER/SCRAPERS,let it defrost naturally or use car de-icer.wipe out with bicarb to keep fresh.and then restart as new.

Freezer works intermittently .

Check if there is build up of ice at the panel at the back of the unit. When you open the door you should see a panel at the back wall. If there is accumulation of ice, have it removed. Just unplug the unit and see if you can remove the panel. Once removed the ice should be more accessible. You can break it up once the temperature of the ice increases. Do some cleaning as well once you have the ice gone. Especially on the drains. Make sure everything is ice free.

At times ice would accumulate over time even if defrosting is done automatically. The thermostat may have been frozen or presence of dirt may have helped the buildup. If this does not resolve it, have the thermostat inspected and the control board. It may be faulty. If this is an old unit, you may inspect the freon.

I have a 15 year old Jenn Air Fridge/freezer Model

You will need to pull the fridge out and remove the rear lower panel. If the unit is operating you will be looking to see that the fan in the rear is also operating. Most likely it is not. You will need to replace that fan motor if it is not.
