Water leaking inward

There should be a drip tray that catches all the condensation and funnels it out the back. Check for holes, cracks or a plugged drain hole.

Window or wall mount

The differance between a window and wall mounted A/C is the mounting system.
Window units are usually smaller BTU systems they set in the window, so you do not have to cut a hole in the wall to install it.
For a bedroom say 10 x 10 you can use @ 5000 btu it plugs into a standard 120 volt electric outlet. If the room is bigger then go bigger say @ 6000 btu or so. Take your room dementions with you when shopping for a unit. sometimes they have sizing on the side of the unit box.
Wall units are usually larger units. Like whole house 18,000 btu
they slide in and out of the case and use a 240 volt seperate circuit.
Best place to shop for A/C's are Home Depot, Lowes, Sams Club, B.J.'s, and Cosco they buy in large volumeusually give a Good deal I've seen 5000 btu units as low as $89.00
Just don't drop the unit out the window when installing it
From the second floor it will void your warranty. LOL
Good Luck Phil

My Frigidaire AC/heater window unit problem is no heat. Fan works

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls check the continuity of the heater element itself. Additionally, almost always, heaters have a thermal cut-off in series with the supply line. This is different but in addition to the thermostatic switch that regulates the switching off temperature. Both the thermal cut-off and the thermostatic switch could also be checked with a continuity tester. Normally, both should read 0 ohms. Of course all continuity/resistance readings should be performed with the unit unplug.

The "320 ac" reading is unrealistic, perhaps you can try reading from the mains/outlet and compare.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Why isn't it blowing cold air and is dry inside, no water to drain out?

Good Afternoon Friend, I understand that your Frigidaire air conditioner, model# FAC124, is not blowing cold air and there is no water draining out. First, try setting the temperature to a lower temperature. Secondly, make sure the compressor did not shut off by switching modes. Make sure it is on cool and wait approximately 3 minutes and listen for the compressor to restart. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your air conditioner status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful. -Best regards- WP

Fan motor does not turn unless the blades are

These types of fans need to be oiled once every year. Remove the cover and access the fan motor. you should see two small yellow covers at each end of the fan motor. Pull these small covers off and oil the ends of the motor. The small covers are caps for oil tubes that feed the fan bearings.

My FAC104 P1A window air conditioner does NOT

Some don't have a drain hole anymore. As long as you have it tilted slightly, any excess water will drain out. If your house or room feels good, it's working. It won't pull moisture out of the air if the air has already been dehumidified.

Why does wall make ticking

Marvin, it could be water dripping into the drain pan under the unit or the metal of the outer shell is cooling off (metal stress). Also, is the drain pan is full the fan blades may be hitting the water, In which case the rear of the unit needs to be tilted down 1/4" to 1/2". So, the water will flow to the rear of the pan and out the drain hole. These sounds are normal and will do no harm. If you want to test this theory, turn the unit OFF & unplug it. If you still hear the ticking sound, it's one of the above.

Hope this helps & thanks for choosing FixYa.
