Is the machine working or is there a fault? You can try to do a base configuration or factory reset.

Take the steam valve apart and clean it as there is probably limescale blocking it open.

Check for water leaks near the PCB. Otherwise, its most likely the steamboiler element has earth leakage. You can check for this using the Resistance setting on a multimeter.

Check the brewer for visible leaks in pipes etc.. Check the orange top and bottom piston o-rings for wear. Generally its the o-rings which need to be changed. Part no. 65190

Is it noisy when the pump runs on startup? If so then the pump is airlocked, run water through the wand to release this... Depending on model, you can do this by placing a cup under the wand and pressing the jug button or turning the knob on right side to the water symbol.

Don't forget the that there's an on/off switch on the left hand side of the machine as well as the button on the front. You'd be surprised how many people this catches out.

i work on schaerer machines. on the back of the lid there are two plastic spikes that make contact with in the machine, when you lift the lid it breaks contact so when you select your product you dont put your hand near the grinder. order a new lid or write back and ill tell you how to jam it open. If you want?

Sounds like a dirty boiler probe.The probe has lime on it and should be cleaned.If attempting to clean make sure unit is unplugged and cool.

Just turn the machine back on and continue descaling. It won't come out of the descale mode until you have finished the process.
