I have a Ruud Achiever 90 Plus that wont start. I have checked the inlet/outlets outside the house and neither of them are blocked. When I turn the power on to the unit the Power light turns on and the Ok light blinks four times, stops, then blinks four times again it repeats this over and over but doesn't start. I have looked on the panel and there is no Light flashing diagnostics or codes. So if you could tell me what the light flashing four times means it would be appreciated. Thanks.
4 blinks is "pressure switch closed" there are 2 in the system according to the wiring diagram one for the vent system and one for the drain system ... I just wiggled them and heard one "click" the fault light quit blinking and when I pushed the safety switch back in the furnace fired right up. That being said is there a good website for learning how to maintain your own furnace? I'll call a pro if I have to, but shoot I can fix a jet engine... this shouldn't be much worse.
Thanks
dan

Our gas furnace will act like it is going to light, but then it shuts itself off. We cleaned the ignitor, but it is still doing it. Once we get it running if we put the door back on it shuts down
The door, you mean the metal cover on the front? if you have the door off and push the safety switch in with your hand everything works fine? I need more info here, but if what I said is right, then the "door" isn't making good contact with the switch.

I have a Ruud Achiever plus heater with heat pump. The furnace blower goes on & off and makes a large clicking sound in the unit. Now the fan will not work at all but the heat pump is running fine. I've shut down the system so I don't burn up motors. Also, the fan blower turns freely. The light inside the furnace is continually blinking. Any suggestions? Also, where do you get parts for these things?
does the furnace ignite?? your system may not have been lighting and has gone into ignition lockout count the codes of the led lights then remove panel led diagnostic codes are listed there.
if led codes indicate no problem verify capacitor is good and that mtr is getting 115 volts.

When I turn the ac or the heater on it wont stop running and the heat pump outside dose not shut off either. I have replaced the thermostat and shut it off for about too weeks bur it still funs constantly running and if I have it on cool the coils freeze up in the unit and its starting to bug the heck out of me and I want to get it fixed so it dose not cost me in the long run can you help
sounds like tstat is wired wrong or possibly the contactor relay has fused shut outside. if you can stop the system from running at the tsat it is usually a problem with the t-stat
if you cannot shut off the outside unit without turning off the power at a breaker than usually the contact relay needs replacement

I can't get my furnace to ignite and don't know what to check. It was a used furnace so I hav no manual
Again is this a spark or a glow coil? If it is a glow coil look at the coil and see if there is a crack or white spot on it. If so it needs to be replaced.

Heat pump unit will not operate on cool cycle, and I checked for 24 volts at the thermostat (no volts). Proceeded to blower unit and found that transformer primary side was shorted out and secondary side was ok. Replaced transformer and switched thermostat to fan only, and the blower operated. Next, switched to Auto and Cool and lowered temperature; but blower unit did not operate. Checked blower unit and found same problem--a blown transformer. I appreciate it if you can troubleshoot my problem.
blown transformers are usually from a low voltage short the first thing i would do is wire a automotive or resetable 3amp fuse in line with the transformer so you dont blow transformer after transformer the wire coming off the transformer that say 24v take that wire a couple of inches down and cut it and install the fuse in series there
24v----------------
24v----------x----------
24v--------{3ampfuse}----------
now you can go through your low voltage wires one by one and test them unhook all the wires to your outdoor condenser at your indoor unit(furnace or airhandler) and try turning it to cool now if you blow the fuse the short is between the tstat and the indoor unit if the fuse is still good leave it on cool and hook up one wire at a time to your outdoor unit starting with R a lot of times your contactor or your defrost board will short out on you also look for pinches in wires wires with cracks in the insulation and wires touching metal this situation can be a real pain sometimes i would recommend calling a hvac company if you start to get stumped
hope this will help you

How do I clean the flame sensor rod for a Ruud Silhouette II furnace, approximately 7-8 years old?
disconnect the power. the flame rod is located at the end of the last burner. Gently remove it from its cradle and use a pencil eraser or a piece of scotch brite pad. If it doesnt allow the gas valve to stay opened after that, you should replace it

rheem air conditioner fan not working outside
with the unit off: use a stick or something safe to try to move the fan blades to be sure the motor is not seized. If it spins freely :turn the unit on and use stick to give the fan motor a "boost". if it takes off and runs you have a bad fan capacitor which is the most common cause of your problem
