Nikon D200 Digital Camera with 18-200mm Lens Questions & Answers
I'm planning to buy a DSLR but confused what to buy
You have named several excellent digital SLR cameras aimed at the top end of the amateur/semi professional market.
I have the Nikon D200 and have been very pleased with it.
As stated by JCDill, you must really decide what you want and can afford. The camera body you choose will commit you down one path or another. For example, if you choose Canon, only Canon or OEM (Other Equipment Manufacturers) such as Sigma lenses will fit your camera body. Canon have a good reputation for their auto-focus, while Nikon make lenses that are the envy of others.
If this is your first digital SLR then you might be best buying an entry level body with a multi-purpose zoom lens such as the Nikon D40. There is a lot to learn.
If you are converting from film SLR and already have a set of lenses, then the cameras you mentioned will probably be able to use your existing lenses (but this is less so with Canon than Nikon). I was ecstatic to disover that my old Nikon 500mm mirror lens works in manual mode (with metering displayed) on my Nikon D200 but would not work properly on my Nikon D70.
I hope this helps.

you cannot "Preview" shots on the LCD screen with the D200. There is no Live View function. Newer models such as D300 and D90 offers such a feature.
I have a Nikon d200 and need to take sports photos in a basketball court The sport is very fast moving. What should I set the camera to. Lately the photos are dark and or blurry
You want the fastest shutter speed you can get and the largest aperture possible. If you're close enough and it's allowed, use the flash. The flash will freeze the action. However, it's likely to give you a dark background instead of a blurry background. If not, use the Aperture Priority mode. Open the lens to its maximum aperture (smallest f/number). This will give you the fastest shutter speed for the existing lighting conditions. The fast shutter speed will freeze the action and the large aperture will blur the background, though the amount of freezing may be limited if the lighting is relatively dark, as in a high school gym.Be aware that if you're shooting indoors you're going up against the laws of physics. The human eye can adapt much better than any camera. A high school gym will appear light enough once you've been inside for a few minutes, but it is much, much darker than a bright day outdoors.

Some times the cameras memory may become confused, so to speak. Or a user may have set something which was not set back, and so causes this to happen.
Most cameras have a way to reset to factory specs. or default as stated in some.
Then, set the adjustments the way you like them.
My camera is receiving no power from charged
it could be a problem with wiring or the terminals inside the camera preventing it from receiving enough power from your batteries.
If your camera takes AA batteries It could be that your re-chargeable batteries need to be replaced, so perhaps pick up a set of high powered lithium (single use) batteries at the store and try them out. If the camera works, you know it is not a fault with the camera.
If this is the case, we then need to determine whether the fault is with your batteries or the charger. You could buy a new set of rechargeable batteries and check that they charge correctly. If they do, it was the old batteries, if they don't, it may be the charger.
If you find that the fault is with your camera, you could try cleaning the terminals inside the battery compartment of your camera with a cotton bud,
I have a full card alarm and 0 photos available
Hi,
Please format memory card with format option that is available in Menu, this will delete all data on card that is not being recognized by camera and gives you full card message/ alarm.
Hope this info will solve your camera problem.

Check your Custom Setting Menu, a1-a10:AUTOFOCUS.
Press Menu, select the Custom Menu Setting (looks like a pencil).
Select "AUTOFOCUS" and move to right.
a1 AF-C Mode Priority. Set to "Focus"
a2 AF-S Mode Priority. Default is "Focus", change this to "Release". This will enable the camera to fire anytime you press the shutter, regardless of if it's in focus or not. Use this setting if your having problems locking up, especially using some different lenses.
Try these settings. They may work for you.
