LG dvd external drive not recognized by computer

ERROR 43? Check your SATA connection. HERE'S HOW I FIXED MINE. (IE. Computer tries to install driver for BD burner, but ultimately fails, and gives the message. "Unsuccessful" and/or "Microsoft Windows stopped device. Error 43") The SATA CONNECTION on my BD burner's EXTERNAL CASE had gone bad. TO TEST IT. I used a SATA/IDE to USB Adapter Cable I bought for about $10 on amazon.
  • I unscrewed the external case to get at the internal drive, and plugged the SATA adapter cable directly into the internal BD burner drive (bypassing the case assembly), and plugged the other end into my computer USB port.
    • PS My BD burner POWER was working OK, so I left the big white 4pin power adapter connected to the original external case.

VOILA! Both my laptop and my desktop PC recognized the LG BD burner again and assigned it a drive letter (like it used to do).

  • Now I either need to (1) Buy a NEW EXTERNAL case ($10 - $30), (2) install it as an internal drive (could get problematic if "ANYDVD" is installed) or (3) just leave it connected via the cheap adapter cable.
It's super EASY (& inexpensive) to TEST this before spending $$$$ on a new equipment. Hope this helps someone. It had me miffed for a while there.

Computer Does Not Recognize Device

Firstly the ide controllers you mention are only for internal devices like you hardrive and internal dvd writers, not usb peripherals. If you have service pack 2 on your system there should be no problem it could be that your usb port is faulting. You can locate the drivers that are on your girlfriends pc, they will be exactly in the location that you have typed in your post and copy them to a disc and paste them into your windows operating system in the same folder eg C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS and the other mentioned driver to see if it works. If not try another usb port or go to My computer>right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager and at the bottom of the list you will see everything to do with your usb port controllers. Right click on each controller and select uninstal and then restart your pc, the drivers that you put on your system should then automatically load when your pc finds the usb controllers again on start up.

Driver for LG super multi

You shouldn't need one. These drives are usually generic, the bios on your PC should find it and display it as an extra drive.

Assuming its connected and powered up, also assuming you're using windows, just click on "My Computer" you should find it there, probably listed as D, E or F drive.

Greeting I just bought "LG

Greetings... I think your having a problem with your hardware DVD R/W.
based on your observation...
1) The dvd rom drive is detected on your windows xp and by pushing open/close button still working... " this indicate that the power and SATA / IDE cable was properly connected.
2) And you've said "NOT SPINNING".... "means you have undergo testing by touching or listening DVDrom drive while the disk was inside after closing the disk tray which is right"

Therefore your DVDrom drive was defective... you can also check by opening the metal cover to see if the disk was spinning and if the laser of optical lens released a red light.

I have been using the

Edit the registry.

In Device Manager, delete both drives and close it.
Now delete the Upper and Lower Filters to force XP to redetect the drives on reboot:

a. Click on Start --> Run --> and type in 'regedit' followed by the enter key

b. Expand the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" key (looks like a folder) by double clicking it (or
clicking the "+" next to it.)

c. Expand the "SYSTEM" Key

d. Expand the "CurrentControlSet" Key

e. Expand the "Control" Key

f. Expand the "Class" Key

g. Look for a key containing the following string of letter and numbers:
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

h. Highlight this key

i. On the right hand side you are looking for "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" under the "Name" column, once you find these delete them by right clicking on them and choosing "delete"

j. Exit the registry

Reboot.

Hope this helps. If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/elixirjose_00375ea24bd8141b

I'm trying to install an LG GH22 22x Internal

there is no driver necessary , check out that you have provided the proper jumper settings and connect the data bus correctly , press it tightly . that will solve your problem . if you are using more than 1 device on your bus then the jumper settings are quite necessary.

How long does it take

That will depend a bit on the speed of the dvd drive and the media speed. Basically should take about 30-40 minutes. On a faster drive it should take about 25. A 2 hour movie should almost fill a dvd 4.7gb in size. Those times are for a internal burner not a external usb burner.

A dual layer dvd should take twice as long but from my experience it doesn;t seemt to take more than a few minutes longer than a normal dvd which is strange but nice.

Make sure you have lots of space on C and try not to be running anything other than the burner software to max out on the speed. And don't worry if you toast a few dvd's at first. They are cheap.

My DVD Driver doesn't appear on My Computer, can I

Hi! There are 2 possible problem with your computer, it's either your having a faulty DVD Drive or having a corrupted registry.

First you may check your device manager by going to start>right click computer>properties> device manager to see if your dvd drive is faulty. If there are any red X mark or yellow question mark beside the dvd drive it means you may need to reinstall your device by installing your machine driver from the computer manufacturer.

On the other hand if you don't see any of these inside device manager the next thing to do is to check the system registry by clicking start>run> then type regedit on the run textbox> In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} In the right pane you may see there either UpperFilter and/or lower filter. delete both of them by using right click then choosing delete. restart the computer. most of the time this steps fix this kind of issue. Please feel free to ask if you any more questions. Cheers~

I have always been using Nero burn software with

speed of source data is too slow = the hard disk cannot deliver the data fast enough and the burning process stops; this is a sign of a severely fragmented file system and very charged background processes: defragment your hard disk, stop using other programs when burning a disk and use 8X as a recording speed.
Track Following Error = the laser head in the burner is no longer capable of following the track it has itself burned - the lens is dirty, clean it.
