Hello

Think it fell into a really deep sleep. Unplug the monitor for 20 minutes and try plugging it in again and then re boot your computer and see if that works for you.

Sounds like you need at least one new capacitor in your monitor. Before you check that out, Double check your power cord and make sure it has a good tight connection.

MONITOR SWITCHES ITS SELF OFF

Hi this is the way how to examine what's wrong with your LCD monitors. Power on both CPU and monitor. After it turns itself off, you have to check that if you can see the image on the screen or not by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem. I used to check my LCD monitor and could see window image using flashlight and found out that Some of CCFL lamps inside were broken. The lamps are very easily replaced. If you cannot see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. If you have soldering tool and want to fix it by yourself, check the caps first. It may cause this problem. Some caps might show leaking or burn spot on the board because of too high temp. If you don't have soldering tool, you better go get a technician to do so.
Thank you,
Tan

Have you pressed the key to allow VGA output....it is usually a combination of "Fn" + an "F" key
(at the top of the keyboard).
"Fn" is usually found near the left "Ctrl" or "Shift" keys. The F key has picture of a monitor or "LCD" on it

The monitor flashes on when powered on, then blank

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed LG and other monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Does not receive signal. Power saving Mode appears

have you tried turning it on in safe mode? The F8 key at the top of the keyboard should give you that mode. Once you turn the computer on, continuously press F8 until it switches to safe mode-then go into 'control panel' and check settings for your monitor.

LG1717S - Power light flashing - no image.

The monitor is probably on protection.

To start unplug monitor from power and from computer and test computer with different monitor to find out if it is monitor or computer fault.

If it is computer fault and no video signal , then test:

  • Video cable.
  • Video adapter on PC (sometimes integrated on motherboard)
  • Motherboard.

If it is monitor fault , then the monitor is on protection.

When on protection you keep having a flashing led on front of the monitor , and monitor turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, faulty inverter board, faulty input board, or a fault on LCD Digital Controller board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

Try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

LG L1717S has no light

Hi, this is a common problem. One thing you want to observe is that the screen works, what's going on is that the screen LCD illumination doesn't work while the screen display is active. LCD's have screen lamps behind the screen, they are often called CCFL, (Cold Cathode Flouroscent Lamps). The inverter board in the monitor supplies High Voltage power to the lampls, so the colored wires should lead you to the lamps. This is the problem causing the screen to dark. You can research the model lamp type for an accurate replacement. Usually there are 4 or 6 lamps in LCD Monitors.

LG Flatron L1717S Won't Turn On

neaverules, The first board you will want to inspect very closely (and I mean very closely) will be the SMPS board. you know the one that has the AC line cord plugged into it. Beg,Borrow,Steal the biggest magnifying glass, or 10x-20x inspection microscope you can get your hands on!!! Here is what you will be looking for. On the bottom side of the circuit board check for bad solder connections over the whole board. look for solder joints that appear to be "frosted" "dull" as opposed to shiney and bright like a sliver ring in the jewelry shop. Next inspect for very fine almost invisible "circular" hairline fractures around the "Through Hole" leads of the larger and heavier components. Then move on to the 1, 2, 3watt resistors checking them also. Pay attention to areas of board that have been discolored. Also check all of the Electrolytic Filter Capacitors. Make sure that the tops are still FLAT. BAD (failed) caps will be swollen on top. ( DOMED). The before mentioned hairline fractures are caused by thermal and /or vibration stress. Get back to me with results. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com BYE for now.

Monitor

If you want to reset your monitor itself to factory settings usually taking of teh power by pulling the plug for more than 10 minutes should do it.
If you have resolution problems or other issues related to the software just reinstall the software that came with the monitor adn if that doesnot solve your problem reinstall your videocard drivers or check manufacturers website for updates.

Flatron l1717s blank screen

Common cause of this is the VGA or DVI connectors not screwed on tight on either the back of the PC or the back of the monitor.

Also try removing power by unplugging for 30 seconds, sometimes that will reset things.

I have two lg monitors on spreat dispaly adapters

You don't need a driver for the monitors, the native plug and play driver in XP usually works as well as any manufacturer supplied driver. What's happened is XP doesn't recognize the onboard display adapter. If this is a name brand system (you didn't mention what type it is) download the XP display driver from the manufacturer's web site. If it's a custom built system, there should be a motherboard CD that came with the system that has the display driver on it. When all else fails, download System Information for Windows from http://www.gtopala.com/ It will tell you what type of onboard display adapter the system has.
