LG Tromm Washer

My washer smells like mold and mildew. I have to wash everything twice or more and the towels are the worst. I never let anything sit there for anytime so that is not a problem. We noticed that water seems to be sitting under a rubber ring (around the door on the inside of the washer). the machine is less then two years old and wehave been having this problem for close to a year now.

What is the mater with us that we are accepting this outrageous product flaw?

Let's put the blame exactly where it belongs and keep it there until manufacturers clean up their act!

What in the world are we thinking when we allow ourselves to be forced to jump through these ridiculous hoops just do do laundry!?

I am furious and it is over something as stupid as a washing machine! A WASHING MACHINE!!!!

New government regulations for new water efficiency washing machines has my family’s clothing smelling like a stinking, rancid, moldy basement! This is absolutely absurd! I have been told to change laundry detergent, run hot bleach water through my washer and, get this; my washing machine is 1 year old and my clothes smell filthy!!! The mold and mildew from these nasty machines have wreaked havoc through skin rashes and allergies in my children!

I paid $1,000.000 for this da*ned washing machine and THIS is what is being sold to the public under the disguise of efficiency!!?? I have been on the phone about this problem. I have, over the past 3 months, with a technician on the phone, been instructed to do the following:

*Make sure I use high efficiency detergent THAT will fix my problem.
Wrong.
*Cleaned the lint trap (..that is stupidly behind a metal access plate that you have to use a screwdriver to remove screws to get to it EVERY TIME) and THAT will fix my problem.
Wrong!
*Cleaned the water hoses; THAT will fix my problem.
Wrong!
*Cleaned the gasket around the door. THAT will fix my problem
Wrong!
*Cleaned the tub with bleach water. THAT will fix my problem.
WRONG!
*REMOVED the hoses and cleaned the pump. THAT will fix my problem.
WRONG AGAIN!
*Take the pump out entirely and clean all inlet, outlets and hoses. THAT will fix my problem.
WRONG! WRONG!! WRONG!!!

NONE of this fixed my problem of filthy, wet, stinking, rancid clothing that has endangered my family's health! I even washed my children's clothing out by hand in the bathtub and put them in the washer just to rinse and spin and they STILL smelled horrific.

Finally, at the end of my rope, I returned to the appliance store from which I purchased this machine and they have told me that they cannot accept a return. They will not accept a return and I have to deal directly with GE. I HAVE dealt with GE up until the final straw when I they told me I needed a new pump, but so sorry, your warranty JUST expired 3 days ago!!!

Furthermore, my pump was fine. I did NOT need a new pump and have now been told that I cannot return the new, unused pump that cost me another $183.00. I have now been told that this is a problem with ALL front loading washing machines and I should do the following:

*First, run a full complete wash cycle on hottest setting containing Bleach – * Note: wash cycle takes 1 hour and 20 minutes
*Next, run a full wash cycle on hottest setting using high efficiency laundry detergent for another 1 hour and 20 minutes
*Next, run a full wash cycle on hottest setting using Cascade automatic dish washing detergent for an ADDITIONAL 1 hour and 20 minutes
*Next, using Bleach water, wipe down entire interior of washing machine
*Next, using clean white cloth, wipe entire interior of washing machine dry
*Next, leave door ajar to air out machine

*Finally, I have now been informed that I cannot use fabric softener in the machine even though there is a fabric softener dispenser right in the machine because the new front loading machines cannot handle fabric softener!!

Furthermore, I was told that this is new technology and since it is so new, no one really knew these kinds of problems were going to manifest themselves and I just need to try to work with these problems because it is not the manufacturers fault but the GOVERNMENT’S fault! Sorry.

Are you kidding me??

Now I have a $1000.00 piece of junk that the appliance companies are pawning off on unsuspecting consumers and hiding their horrible designs by blaming the government.

So, now this is what I want!

I want the legislature to force manufacturers to properly inform the public of these problems and those who did NOT inform consumers of these issues, COMPENSATE their customers for the $$$$$ it has cost us and the misery and frustration caused by THEIR neglect by NOT informing the consumers of these issues. I want this to be retroactive BACK to at least the year 2005. Furthermore, I want compensated for the cost of buying a top loading washing machine in an effort to keep our families away from the mold and mildew and filthy mess this has caused! Finally, I want manufacturers to own up to the fact that they disregarded the health and safety of consumers in their efforts to profit as much as possible while touting efficiency.

Now I have heard that they have a new 'product' they can sell to us to inhibit the stench of mold and mildew. This is absolutely unacceptable!

This is outrageous and we need to speak out about this and make sure our voices are heard!

Jet spray nozzle not spraying water.

On all cycle, I observed the entire cycle and no water sprayed. No water coming out of the holes rather water slowly coming out of the drum holes during rinse cycle. The first tech that service the unit has no knowledge of this new model. Second tech with an impressive lap top computer, said it is "normal"(???) that there is no noticeable water (no water at all) coming out of the jet spray. I don't believe it or else that jet spray unit is a useless part of the washer.

Could it be that the water tube connecting the jet spray (if any) was disconnected?

If no water is coming out at all, it might be that the inlet filter is clogged or the Est. time shows the code IE. To clean out the inlet filters, unplug the washer, turn off the water, open the valves, take a filter cap thing and try rinsing it out. To put it back to operational use, reverse the steps above.

Thermistor for LG WM2688H

Our LG is giving us the te error code again. Can the thermistor be replaced by my husband? Is it a part we can order and take care of ourselves? We live in a small town and can't find an appliance repair place to help us. Really don't want to haul the machine somewhere. Thanks!

Thanks so much for the tip regarding flipping the machine on its side. I was about do the lengthy process of disassembling the front and I tipped the machine over instead. Lo and behold, there was the problem in plain sight right away -- the wire to the thermistor had simply come off the connector! I restripped the tip of the wire and crimped it back on the connector, problem solved. Didn't even need a new part!

I have the LG Tromm Steam Washer - bought it Oct. 2007 and have enjoyed it. The last 3 months or so after every wash the detergent dispenser is full of water with some detergent in the bottom. What is causing it and how can I fix it? I called customer service in California and they were no help at all.

And yes --- I use only He detergent--usually All He 3x.

sounds like you have calcium build up, this happens alot with LG's. need to take out the dispenser and clean the calcium with industrial lime away, that only works good for me, but others will do, also use a sharp object, like a ice pick or finishing nail, to scrape off any left over hard residue.
the calcium will clog all the holes in the dispenser.

if this doesn't solve your problem, then there is one thing left
just email me and ill give you the other solution.....

LG Tromm Washing machine te error. The manual says to call for service. Not much help there. The reason for the error is the thermistor circuit (resistive element that becomes less resistive as it increases in temperature). The thermistor acts as a heat sensor. In many cases, the error occurs because the wireing harness is too tight at the bottom of the drum and one of the wires in this circuit becomes disconnected with all of the movement of the drum (unbalanced load, normal cylcing etc).

1. Unplug the washing machine from the wall. The thermistor circuit is at line voltage (110 in the U.S.) and it will bite! So do this first before proceeding.

2. Move the washer out so you can get access to the back of it.

3. Remove the stainless panel (the one that is not painted, it is large (aprox. 16x18 inches). It is held in place by 4 phillips screws.

4. Locate the thermistor connection block near the bottom of the machine, at the center of the wash drum. It is the small white connector that has two wires running to it. One wire is dark blue, the other is light blue. Insure that neither wire has pulled out of the connector. If either of them have, repair the connector and provide enough extra wire ( aprox. 2") to provide cable relief.

5. If the cable connector and wires are ok, there are other solutions here that recommend either cleaning or replacing the thermistor.

Good luck to you.

lg front load washer with a tE error code and

lg front load washer with a tE error code and switched the thermistor that was located when I took the top off the washer and it ran two loads fine but code is back...I noticed online they keep saying the thermistor is on the front of the washer but I found mine on top when I took the top off? is there two or did I replace the wrong thing?

As many suggest, the tE error means there is a thermistor error. On my machine, simply unplugging the machine, tipping the machine backwards (careful! ... I put a few blocks under the front legs so I could work under the machine)...and the thermistor was under the drum, with a 2-wire lead going to it. It was easy to unplug, tighten the plug (squeezing the connector), plugging it back in. The machine has now worked fine ever since this simple procedure with no failures.

Water leak in front left corner of unit. Rusty leveler near strainer.

I have an LG WM2688HWM front load washer that has developed a leak at the front left corner of the machine. It appears to be about two tablespoons per wash. Enough water has leaked over time that the leveler has rusted. I removed the top and front to inspect. I see evidence of liquid coming from the front of the soap dispenser and dropping on the door hinges, but nothing was wet at the time the leak was discovered. The hoses and door seal do not appear to be punctured, and the filter screen/pump unit does not show signs of leaking. The source of the leak is not clear. Has anyone seen a similar leak?

Is the leak on the same side as the hinges? If yes I'm guessing someone overstressed the hinge when opening the door too widely or by leaning on the open door and the seal is just barely tight enough now. Crack the door open half an inch and eyeball the door gap from top to bottom on the open side to see if the door is unevenly hinged - you can use a ruler to help measure but you need to keep the door immobile while comparing top and bottom gap widths. Tape a hard wedge in place in the doorframe to help with that. Fix for that? Pressure on the door in the right direction to straighten the hinge mount.
