Onkyo TX-SR502 Receiver Questions & Answers
Can you use an Onkyo RC-771M remote control to operate Onkyo receiver TX-SR502 ?
Unfortunately, the RC-771M remote doesn't control the TX-SR502. It will only work with these Onkyo models: TX-NR1008 and TX-NR808. The RC-567M is the one for the TX-SR502; replacement remotes that are exact replacements are still available from various places including Amazon.com .
Since the TX-SR502 was released in ~2004, that replacement remote probably won't control other devices that were released in 2004 or later. Onkyo changed its IR code programming before the TX-NR1008 was released in ~2010 and the RC-771M can't communicate with the older receiver. The manuals for the receivers listed above are still available from Onkyo on the product page under the Downloads tab.
I wish that I had better news for you.

My Onkyo TX-SR502 suddenly no sound output. Why?
Same issue on a friend's receiver. I have checked and no signals from preamp pcb to main amp board, which is idling just fine, all channels. The day he brought in we checked it and it played just fine. I then took apart the faceplate to clean the display window and after that had it working for a day and a half while working on other stuff. He comes back a month later to pick up and now nothing. I have decided this is not going to go any further and just thought I'd share my findings. I think it's time we all move on.
Audio Not Available
Sounds like you have the unit on ZONE 2 take it out of ZONE 2 to make other audio options available.
Onkyo SR502 Shuts off by itself
It is not a blown fuse. Your baby is in its ***** throes! It is fubar. You have either a damaged power supply or blown output stages (since sounds horrible it is probably this).
How do i connect a bluetooth adaptor to the amp
Hi Lionel, the Bluetooth adapter that we sell, UBT-1 is not compatible with your TX-SR502.
On another note if you are looking to upgrade from your current unit please email me the units serial number found on the back of the unit and I will advise you. You can email me at

Standby light on
You might have shorted out one of the amp channels. If this is the case, it needs to be looked at by a pro.
