Have you ever changed the brwe head gasket? It should be changed yearly at least. They get hard from the heat and won't seal. They should be soft to make a good seal. You can change it your self. I have left post on changing gaskets. Look for Silvia solutions.

Hi there,
The most common cause for a machine tripping your supply is a faulty element. Usually it is found after descaling as well as basically the scale which is covering the fault is removed and then the contact with water makes it short out. It could be so small that you can't even see it but it is a problem that i have encountered before in many cases. If you require spares or repairs and you are within the UK please get in touch at [email protected] and i will be able to sort you out.
I have full access to Rancilio spares so not a problem to get you parts if you want to repair it yourself.

Kind Regards

Hi Our machine has been left on over nigt and now

There is a reset button inside on the front side of the boiler (you have to take the top of the machine off. There are 4 screws and remove the water tank). It is located between 2 black wires and is a red button. Push it in and test. There is also another problem that you might have. If the brew thermostat is bad it won't heat. To test for this, push the steam switch and wait 15 seconds. Then open the steam knob and push the middle button and see if the water is warm. If it is then you need a new brew thermostat. That is the thermostat that has the red dot on the top. It sets on top of the boiler next to the steam thermostat. If you take the top off, make sure that the machine is unplugged.
If none of these things work check the heating element with an ohms meter. The reading in the terminals should be from 12 to 16 ohms. If no reading the elements is bad and you have to replace the boiler.

Rancilio Silvia - Water coming from behind into

Correct
When you are finished and turn the pump off, the 3 way valve opens and relieves the pressure in the brew head so you don't get an explosion of coffee when you remove the portafilter.

Hi
Sorry to say but its your heating element. When they go bad it exposes the element to the water and creates a direct short. This short is what trips your GFCI. It needs to be replaced.

Rancilio Silva, after working well

Remove the 4 screws on the top panel. Make sure machine is not connected to power. Check the thermostats on the boiler, there should be 3 of them, push in on the small red pin in the middle of them one of them should click in. Now fill up your tank plug machine in and turn on.

I have my Silvia for 3 years and for the last

It definitely needs preventive maintenance once a year. There could be a couple of issues causing watery espresso. You could have a clogged shower screen or cracked porta-filter basket. They bypass valve from the pump could be leaking causing low pressure (check this by pulling a shot and seeing if water continually flows back into the tank via one of the water hoses).

When making a shot of

There are many reasons why you don't have cream anymore and we have the main one here below.

First the water pressure pump is not working or it does not produce the proper pressure of 9 bars. Descale will help if not need replace.

The coffee grinding is grosser or the coffee is old and dry so the water passes though it faster than 25 sec. Buy new coffee.

The group shower is dirty and need to be removed and cleaned.

The piping has some scale deposits and despite that pump work good the pressure arriving to the coffee group is lower than 9 bars. Need very good descale.

The Rancilio does not heat

If you have reset the thermostats and still no heat then check for resistance on the elements they might be bad.

Using an ohms meter check the thermostats and replace the broken one, I think it is most likely the coffee thermostat.

You need to remove the rubber group head gasket and clean the head thoroughly. A new gasket will help a lot especially if you haven't replaced it in 5 years. I would also recommend having all the preventative maintenance done on the machine to help keep problems to a minimum.
