Toshiba DRW2 DVD Recorder Questions & Answers

Fan error
The fan engauges when the unit is first turned on, if that fails to happen it indicates a faulty fan and replacement only option.
I have a Toshiba D-RW2 DVD Recorder for 4 years
You may want to try a slower speed DVD-rw, also I would try a laser lens cleaner for your dvd player. You can get one at almost any electronics store or the likes. That may solve your problem. If the problem persists I would consider replacing it as it may be a more serious problem that isn't worth repairing in a 4 year old unit
Thank you,

Initial setting...turn on TV Select input to which
You didn't specify what TV you have so I'm kind of shooting in the dark. Check your TV remote and see if there is a key marked "Input". This would be used to switch from the different inputs into your TV. I don't know which input your DVD is hooked up to. It usually says "Input 1" or "Input 2" near where your DVD cables plug into the TV. Sometimes you can access the inputs by going to channel 2 and then going down 1 or 2 channels. Hope this helps.
I need a region code for my toshiba d-rw2
You can try this hack to make your dvd player region free.
1. Power on the player.
2. Open the disk tray.
3. With the remote, enter the numbers 9 8 7 9 and
then press 0 (for region 0, or multiregion). A prompt
at the upper right hand corner of the start screen should tell you that the player has been set to region 0.
4. Close the disk tray.
5. Power off the player and then power it back on.
Good Luck
After recording on the HDD it will not playback
That does seem to be the entire functionality of the device though isn't it?
Strangely enough, inside is a simple Hard Drive.
If you're somewhat technical, pop it open and connect it to a PC that can run a scandisk and fix errors or even format it then pop it back in or replace it with an extra harddrive and try again so you don't effect the original one.
This might be be a job for a local electronics guy truthfully.
Magnavox DP170MW8B DVD region code
After getting clarification from Fixya I can pass the links below to you to check yourself
Some players are harder than others to do this but you may want to try here or here
Comments:
Toshiba's and JVC's are the harder ones to do
I use a Phillips myself as it is not only cheaper but has much more going for it than many of the higher end units. i throw anything at it and it just plays
The older the unit that harder it is to do the region free thing with.
I let my EX have the panasonic (big grin)
If you cant find a fix then look at the codes available for cheaper brands and how easy it is to do it before you purchase one.
