Toshiba Portege M400 PPM40U01000E Tablet PC - Page 3 Questions & Answers
My laptop will not charge. If I hold the
When you plug in the adapter and wriggle the power plug and the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. You can DIY but if not confident to tackle it yourself then, I suggest you get a quote for the repair first.
How/where do I insert the SIM card?
It is on the right hand side of the laptop above the dvd drive. There will most likely be a blank piece of plastic that protects the opening, if you press on this blank it will release and can be pulled out of the way, this blank and the memory card only fit one way and when you put the card in, it will click in place and lock, to unlock simply push in on the card and will unlock and can be pulled out. Below is the service manual, look on page 249, chapter 4.3.2

Cant log into pc because
Who is the owner of the PC? you need the person who set the password to log you in to it, you probably wont get much help on this issue because there is no way of you proving to us that you are the owner of the computer. for all we know you could have stolen it and want to access it
My Toshiba M400 did not read hard drive!
You need to activate the Raid diver. This can be done by slipping it into the XP install or adding the Raid Drivers at the time of installing the operating system. See Toshiba.com support pages for a copy of the Raid drivers
Mouse Pad and Right and Left Buttons
Great job, I myself prefer to use a extra mouse rather then the built in one, if you chose to do this it wont work right away but if you give it a moment to recognize the mouse it will then be functionable.
Computer running slow
Hi;
Running slow few possibilities:
You need more RAM memory -cheap to buy off ebay,
Hard disk space running low - cheap again on ebay,
If its running slow because you are running a high graphics application then you may need a better Graphics card. But ultimatley it will com down to those and finally your CPU and motherboard.. but by then it would be ccheaper for you to buy a newer system.. Again thats cheap from ebay too.
I hope this helps, please don't forget to rate my solution.
Thanks.

Have you checked in Device Manager (Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, System, Hardware, Device Manager) for any conflicts - the dreaded yellow icon? Is this a recent problem? Have you installed anything new? Try deleting the device, rebooting and let your operating system find the device and install the drivers for it again. It just might be a little buggy and can be fixed fairly easily. Let me know.
I Want Drivers
There are two sites you can get them. First try drivers.com or you should be able to get all the latest directly from the Toshiba site.
You may have a service number that you will need it should be on a sticker on the bottom of your pc.
\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
I assume the pc does not boot to windows without this file.
You can reinstall windows. However, this will likely remove your data in the process.
If you can get into the BIOS, see if it can boot from the network or a USB drive. If so you can download something based on Linux that you can so boot and that is able to read/write to NTFS partitions.
The easiest way to replace this file for someone with little or no experience in these matters is to remove the hard drive from the tablet & hook it up to an IDE/SATA to USB adapter. Then plug it into a desktop.USB Port and it will be seen by the host PC as an add on hard drive.
Recover my windows xp
If you are having this problem continually, then you will have to, unfortunately, reformat your drive and start over. I hope you backed up anything that you wanted to keep.

Clock of the computer
This means that the cmos battery on the motherboard is flat and keeps losing time and date and probably the memory settings, this is only a small disc shaped watch type battery CR2032 and can be found on the motherboard, a pc repair shop would be able to do it for you for a small fee.
