The tv has an analog tuner only (NTSC); so it will only get low power stations that have not switched to digital natively. Do you have the tv connected to a digital to analog converter or another set-top tuner (or a tuner in your computer)? If not, then you need to get one, then see my additional comments.

What type of antenna do you use? Is it pointed in the direction for the stations you want to see? Check antennaweb.org and tvfool.com for details - just plug in your location. antennaweb is very conservative in the channel list that will be provided, even though the site assumes an external antenna. tvfool will list the color (strength guideline) for the antenna that is most likely to get a given channel in your area.

If the signal is split between multiple tv's you may need an amplifier in the system.

(please note that if you use a computer as a source for the tuner signal, you will be limited to the VGA connection unless you get a converter or your video card can output the signal in a format other than RGB. Thus even if the computer has DVI or HDMI ports, it cannot be directly connected to the TV for most systems.)

I don't know if your using an antenna or other source but one quick test to see if your TV can display is to push the display or menu function. If your screen stays black then your TV has a problem and needs serviced. If your screen shows a menu then you may have a problem with the source video.
Try to elaborate more on your hook-up, it can be most helpful in solving display problems.

Either the T-CON board or the main board itself, check the connection between the main and the T-con bord first.

I would suspect a problem in either the backlight assembly, or the power supply that drives it. If it's the power supply, the part may be over $100.

Check to make sure the audio cables are plugged into the correct inputs.

1. Need to replace the main Board

Yes you can purchase the main assembly but its simpler and cheaper not to use HDMI.

This is repairable, but I really wouldn't recommend it. The dealer price on this panel is $457.63. Once you figure labor costs you are probably in the neighborhood of $600 if not more.

Unless you really like this particular TV I think you would do better to just buy a new one for the $100 difference.

The problem is the LCD panel went bad, it can't be repaired, you have to replace it.

Caps can fail with no outward signs. It takes a special meter to test them. Your set may have a back light inverter that powers the back lights. When it fails, the picture cant be seen, but you have sound, to check this look for a picture on the screen using a flashlight
