Sounds as if the back light is going out or it maybe not plugged in all the way. Check on line to see how your back light is inserted and then you maybe able to check to see if it is plugged in all the way.

Try to open the cover of your TV and look at the power supply board (it is usually connected to the power cord)..After that,look at all capacitors visually..if you see leak/bulged capacitors please replace it only with the same type,ratings and value...

Sounds like the backlight or backlight inverter is out on your TV.
You will likely want a seasoned professional to repair this for you assuming the TV is out of warranty.

The cheaper and possibly easier solution, which I did a couple days ago is to replace the capacitors. All you need to do is get some 1000 microfarad 35 volt capacitors from radio shack, which cost 1.59 each. You solder out the old caps and stick these in their place. This will cost you at most 6 dollars to replace the four bad caps. If you don't have a soldering gun, you can also get that at radio shack for like 20 bucks. I don't have a great deal of experience with soldering, but I was able to do this. Good luck

The bad caps issue will cause you not to have backlights or not turing on (thr main relay will click on but the main power supply will remain off).
This sounds more like the main board or possibly the T-CON board.
The artifacts also show when the on sceen menu is on?

So the standby 5vdc is working but not the rest of the power supply outputs are working? Look for PS_ON signal (3.3~5vdc for ON) from the main board that feed the power supply board. You can tak ethe power supply moudule out the do bench test using 24v lamp attach to the 24vdc out put and feed the PS_ON with 3.3v to see if the 24vdc will turn on.

I have a feeling that the main board is damaged since the protection Diodes are blown, it may have taken out the processor.

I would check the capacitors on the power supply. Look for domed tops. Replace with same value. Should be either 1000mf/10v or 2200mf/10v.

Hi, probably the defect might be on the inverter board or power board. possibly there might be a loose contact since it encountered an intermittent events. check if it has a shadow like picture. If it has, it is in the inverter board. check some capacitor defect issues.

Tries tv unplug,replug it back like about an hour later.For the tv resetting itself back to the factory setting,now tv should be working again.If still have the same problems,the tv power supply board is the causes and the problems.That the board,where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

it sounds like a fault in the power supply check caps on pcb they will most likley be the 2200uf or the 1000uf let me know how you go

no you cant the set will not start up the cap will just fry. you must use a 2200 25v

if u replace the board may be it cost is high so i prefer you to change the capacitor..otherwise if u want to change the board then their will be a part no. like BN94-1232 etc..

They are metric screws M5 or M6 that you can get from Home Depot or LOWES for about 50 cents each.

there is problem with power board you have to replaced with good one.there are some power drive ic problem which is not easy to find out as a part.
