This will most likely be a hard problem to find. These sets usually run what is called a 'switched mode' power supply. The power supply is starting, detecting a fault, (ie a heavy current drain), and then turning itself off to protect itself. Then it starts again, detects fault, shuts down, etc, etc. First place to look is around the horizontal output section as this is where the high voltage, high wear and tear, high temperature components are located and fail. I doubt that it will be as simple as a bad soldered joint but it costs nothing to look. Make sure the set has been turned off for 30 minutes or more before you touch. Capacitors take time to discharge. Please don't take offense, but, if you do not have experience in this field then I would consult a technician,

The fault should be to its EHT section circuit. This includes Line Output Transformer [LOT for short], and horizontal output transistor. See the pictures of suspected components.

According to your observation in the black flickering lines this fault is from your t-con board there may be a loosed solder or cold solder from the t-con or to the logic board. This kind of trouble is fixable but it should be done in actual testing of the unit to be sure where the fault is. I was told that it might be a flyback transformer issue. Hope that helps, I'm still looking into getting mine fixed.

Check the small glass fuse on the power supply. I found a close match at Radio Shack for $4.00.
