Right click on desk top and get the menu for changing screen resolution.

Try another monitor to be sure it is the monitor not the computer. If it is the monitor you need to take it to the repair shop. Be sure you are operating it in the proper range.

Check your cable connection on both ends. Try to change the cable.

You more than likely have bad capastors or diodes that will require taking the monitor apart then the parts replaced they will have to be soldered in and a small solder gun will be needed to keep heat as low as possible so the board doesn't get damaged. Use only japanese made gold rated parts

HI,Check you power port.Check it Power Cable.If Monitor not open then may be monitor damage. If PC ask then SMPS check it. Because all power supply to SMPS. Next to check it mother board power come or not. Then RAM slot check, and checking carefully. One time all power section and connector disconnect and some time wait and again proper way connect all device. May be solved you problem.Thanks..

There are broken/exploded capacitors on the power plate, it is a 5 Minute job to replace them.

i think in your TV...... design ..... is such that once channels are autostored it cannot be retuned ..... so you try this ...... it may work ......... disconnect tv antenna cable ( or local tv channels cable ) from your TV & then click autostoring (auto tunning ) ..... definitely it will scans (search for channels ) ..... but since no cable is connected no channels will get stored ...... but previously autostored channels will get removed ...... so now again connect your antenna cable or local tv cable & then click autostore ...... it will scan for channels .... like this you can retune ....... but remember again you may get same quality of picture which you got earlier ..... if you want better quality of picture you have to use signal amplifier (increases cables signal's strength - then picture quality improves ) .....

Hello,Yes, You will need a digital decoder box. The tuner in the Samsung 940MW TV does not decode digital signals. The digital input that you are seeing is for the DVI video input on the back that you use when you connect the unit to a DVI port on a computer. Any of the digital decoder boxes from Radio Shack, Walmart or Best Buy type stores will work just fine.I hope this helps, If so please rate my solution.

Hello Michael,The most common problem with the Samsung 940MW units that don't turn on is a failure of the power supply board. There are parts called capacitors that fail which in turn causes the power supply to not startup correctly so the monitor never powers up. Hello,That is a hell know problem with the 940MW tv/monitors. The power supply has failed because of parts called capacitors have shorted. If you can solder then you should be able to repair your monitor. Did you try thsi monitor with another PC yet? We need to verify if it is the PC's video card problem or bad cable, or bad monitor first since we do not want to open up the monitor unless we have too.

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board. if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having. Audio comes directly to multimedia LCDs and has nothing to do with display.
Usually, the capacitors are the casue of such blackouts. So, it is recommended that you check the capacitors/ other components such as invertor board and CCFL (lamp), which may be failing or heating up.

Power supply is always the first palce to check, unstable DC can cause a lot of problem. You can have problem in the T-CON or the main board itself. You may have to use the cold spray for electronics troubleshooting to locate the bad component.

Make sure that under display properties in your computer, that the laptop is outputting an image. The PC option will not show up unless there is a signal to the monitor from the laptop.
