Not connecting to internet

Did you try going into your network connections and deleting all the connections and putting the new one in manually?

That fix works for me all the time.

Driver xp

That card should have the drivers on the card. Turn off the computer, insert the card into an available PCM/CIA or CardBus slot, turn on the computer. After booting up, XP should detect the card, find the drivers on the card and install them itself.

No association with access point

The first thing I would recommend is to try plugging the adapter into another laptop to see whether it, or your laptop, is the problem. If it's OK on the other laptop, I would suggest un-installing the driver for the adapter, upgrade Windows XP to latest, downloading the latest driver from the Linksys website then re-installing the driver according to manufacturer's instructions.

I just got a labtop

Well first of all you need the drivers installed before the adapter will work. If you do not have internet then you must go to the Library or a friends home that does have internet, click on this link and download the drivers to a thumb drive or burn to a cd or dvd. after than insert the media into your laptop and install from the thumb driver or cd, here is the link hope this helps. :) http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/adapters/WPC54G/download You will find the download link toward the bottom of the page.

Linksys WPC54GS wireless adapter installation issue

There's a possibility that the adapter is defective. However, you may still try the following:

1. Make sure to uninstall the software if you still have it installed. Remove it from the Programs list or under Add/Remove Programs.
2. Check Device Manager and make sure adapter is not under Network Adapters nor Other Devices. It might be called Network Controller if driver is not installed correctly.
3. Unplug card, shutdown computer and when PC is powered off, plug card back and restart computer. You may insert the CD on this process, but do not run/continue the CD setup wizard.
4. When computer is back on, you should get a Found New Hardware bubble message or wizard.

Just finish the wizard and tell me how it went. Goodluck!

"WPC54G is not installed"

Hai rob if ur device manager says error code 10then it seems the drivers are not installed properly for the adapter, try to update drivers, go to device manager, right clich adapter and click update driver and try to update driver, in some case ur pc may require win 2000 cd to.. check for the instructions while installing it , that would surely fix your problem..

The network adapter WPC 54G does not support WPA2 encryption. So, log in the settings' page for E1000 and make sure you did not use WPA2 encryption; use wpa/aes encryption (under wireless network - security) and everything will work now.

It sees my connection and it connects and then it

How's your signal strength?

If the signal isn't the problem, you might find that it helps to shut down your PC and your router, unplug them for five minutes, and then start everything up again. Mind you, this might work, but you don't want to have to do it several times a day. So there are a couple of other possibilities to try...

How many other things is your PC trying to do, especially via USB? I know they say you can connect 127 USB devices at once, but many PCs start to 'act confused' if you connect more than four or five USB devices. Try the adapter without any other devices connected and see if it performs better. If you're into multitasking (simultaneously running a printer, MP3 player, wireless adapter, external hard drive, speaker set, number pad and missile launcher), then you may have to compromise.

Hope that helps a bit. Good luck!
