Lexmark Z611 InkJet Photo Printer Questions & Answers
Full cartridges and it won't print. lexmark z611
A friend uses methyl alcohol to clean printheads but I don't know how. Perhaps he fills an empty cartridge...
I watched a guy professionally filling cartridges and he used steam to clean those with a printhead.
Printers that have the printheads in assembly instead of integrated into the cartridge can be difficult. Epson are like that and if not in regular use and always with a good supply of ink the printheads dry out and become blocked. The Epson service engineer told me it would be completely uneconomic to dismantle the printer and repair.
I expect it is a similar story with many printers that make a cheap ink claim. Cartridges that have the integral printhead are more expensive but seem less trouble overall.

How do I get my lexmark z611 printer to work with win 7?
Unfortunately Lexmark have informed me they have no intention of modifying the Z611 driver. You are not the only user to have problem's with this driver. Microsoft 'Beta' their future programs too peripheral makers, Lexmark should have introduced an up updated driver. Sell the printer and update.
Light keeps flashing
The flashing light could indicate either a communication problem
between one of your cartridges and the printer, a short in one of the
cartridges, paper jam or the cartridge carrier has stalled. Please follow
the steps below to fix the problem:
- Remove the sheets of paper from
the feeder. Make sure there are no foreign objects or debris in
the feeder.
- Open the printer cover and
remove both the cartridges.
- While the cover is open, ensure
there are no paper jams and the cartridge carrier is free
from obstructions.
- Close the printer cover.
- Re-brick your printer. Pull out
the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at
the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.
- When the printer turns on,
reinsert one cartridge first.
- Close the printer cover and
check the light status.
- If light on printer is normal,
open the printer cover and reinsert the other cartridge. Check the
light status.
- Replace whichever cartridge is
causing the light to flash with a new cartridge. You can also try to
insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other
is faulty.
- Load some paper. Try to print a
document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
LEXMARK Z611 PRINTER WON'T PRINT..
A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved
by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Frequently, issues are caused
simply by a break in the signal sent from PC to printer or vice versa.
Unplugging and re-plugging the printer allows the small amount of on-board
memory on the printer to be cleared, with the result that the PC recognizes the
machine properly. Programs continuing to run in the background of the operating
system (OS) can cause the signal to be lost. Rebooting the PC ends all programs
that may be running and makes a 'clean' start, allowing the signal to be
detected.
Color wont print
It could be that your cartridge needs cleaning. Open the Lexmark Solution Center. Click Start, Programs (Windows XP: All programs), Lexmark Z600 Series. Click the Maintenance tab. Under Select a maintenance tool, select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Click Print. If the printed bars in one color fade on either side of the page or are shorter than the other bars, the cartridge is running low on ink of that particular color. If there are thin lines running through the bars or if the diagonal lines at the bottom are broken, the cartridge may need cleaning. Follow these instructions:
- Remove the problematic cartridge or cartridges from the printer.
- Take a warm damp paper towel and set the ink cartridge right-side-up on it so that the ink nozzles are against the towel.
- Hold the cartridge in this position for about 15 seconds.
- Wipe the printhead (on the bottom where the ink comes out) across in one direction only (left to right) until it looks clean.
- Next, dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure that the ink is flowing.
- Use a clean part of your dry paper towel to make sure that the cartridges are dry and then snap them back into the printer.
- Select Old Cartridge install in the software.
- Repeat the Clean Nozzle Page test one more time.
- If the problem persists, you may need to replace the cartridge.

My lexmark z611 only prints
Mostly, printer cartridge error occurs when the printer head is unable to identify the cartridge properly. And the basic reason behind this is that the cartridge is improperly attached. To reattach the cartridge, turn on the lid of the printer and then remove the cartridge from the printer head. Check the cartridge to make sure that there are no scratches or other damaged parts that can contribute to a printer cartridge error report. Take note that the cartridge should not be left open for more than 30 minutes; otherwise the ink will start to dry up and the cartridge will get clogged.
