Hi, My Canon Pixma iP3000 printer is just about 15 months old and has pleased me with it's performance until now. For no apparent reason it has now started to malfunction. It will print one page only, then diagnoses a paper jam in the print exit tray, displaying one long green light pulse followed by three short amber ones and will not print anything further. I have uninstalled the printer and then reloaded the drivers etc. I have disconnected the power, then turned it on again. I have trawled through the trouble-shooting section of the users manual and found nothing that will help. There is no jammed sheet of paper but the printer thinks there is and I am at my wits end trying to send this problem packing. Has anyone had a similar occurance and managed to resolve it? Any ideas much appreciated. Best regards - eljay.
I have been using the Canon MP180 PIXMA for almost three years now without a hitch until I received a paper jam warning which I could not resolve. I Googled "Canon PIXMA paper jam" today and landed on this site. I turned the printer upside-down and shook vigorously. Out popped a small pebble-like bit of concrete which somehow found it's way into my printer. I guess our hardwood floor installation on the floor above had shaken up some old plaster and concrete bits that had lodged in our drop-down ceiling from our 3rd floor bathroom renovation last year and this little ****** came through an opening in our rec-room (where the computer and printer are) drop-down ceiling. A very strange sequence of events, that I would not have suspected, but happy to say that your advice here did the trick and the printer is a tough and trustworthy little printer afterall! Thank you. My printer would not print black well even though I had just put a new ink in.I did the printer maintenence clean and first it printed saying that the black nozzle needed cleaning, I did that and re-printed the nozzle check and black printed fine, saying the printer would now work perfectly, however it does not print black still when i go to print out documents., at first it printed a faded black and now nothing at all. I cannot see anything wrong.
I found a solution to the Black printing problem :)
Under Printing Preferences: Set your Media Type to Photo Paper Pro.
We used edible ink cartridges and printed onto icing sugar paper. Same old... Just one day it refused to print black. In order to continue our small business, I degraded the color until I printed gray and not black.
Tonight, I browsed for the problem and came across this :)
Hope it helps you too

Operator error. Press printer's RESUME button.
If this doesn't clear the error, cancel printing and turn the printer off and then back on - still does not work
Start by totally shutting down your computer system, NO lights should be visible or blinking. Now completely disconnect all cables and cords from your printer. Remove the electric cord from the wall socket. This should totally clear your printer. Wait 5 minutes and plug the power cord into the printer first, then attach the printer cable that comes from your computer, then plug your printer power cord into the wall socket. Now cold boot your computer. It should recognize your printer and you should be good to go.

Just installed new printhead and it shows error of 5 blinking orange lights. Does eeprom need resetting? If so, how to do it?
read entire solution first, see the 6 modes section.
First thing you need to do is print an EEPROM information page, step number 2 below.
Once you have an EEPROM print you can reset the waste ink counter, if needed, which is step number 4 below.
Service Mode: This printer has a service mode for service-related settings and for performing test prints. The operator panel buttons are used to enter the desired service mode.
Service Mode Operations
With the printer powered off, hold down the "Resume Button" and press the "Power Button".
While holding down the "Power Button", release the Resume Button" and press the "Resume Button" twice in succession. Now release the "Power Button".
The indicator will blink in green and remain lit in green.
Select one of the following service mode functions by pressing the “Resume Button” the specified number of times.
1 time = Service test print.
2 times = EEPROM information print.
3 times = EEPROM initialization
4 times = Waste ink counter resetting
5 times = Destination settings
6 times = Print head deep cleaning
Then press the “Power Button” one time to perform selected function.
If you press the "Power Button" two times it will take you out of service mode.
This information is listed above in this thread and many times in other Canon threads in this forum. I simplified Canons wording so I could remember the service mode functions easier.
