Panasonic Toughbook CF-73 Notebook Questions & Answers
How do I remove HDD from HDD Caddy on Panasonic ToughBook CF-73
The caddy on all Panasonic Toughbooks are
held together by pressure.
I use several paperclips (unfolded) to wedge
between the side of the caddy and the small holes
which are located around the caddy. There are two
along the right side, one in the front and one in the
back and two along the left side.
I usually start with the far left side and work my way
to the back, then to the far right side, slowly prying
with pressure a few millimeters at a time.
Finally I go to the right front, then the front and
at last to the left front, almost in a circle.
It is a little tricky and may require several attempts,
but the caddy will come apart. Please try to remember
how the cable attaches to you can re-attach after
you change the hard drive.
Good Luck

Automatic start of a toughbook CF73
To my understanding I have never seen this done, I have checked a lot of bios settings in different computers over the years, and I have never come across an option that offers auto start.

Battery light is blinking red
Hi,
Welcome to Fixya! If the battery light is blinking red, that indicates low power, there's a possibility that the problem is with the AC adapter, or the battery or maybe the DC port itself, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.
1. Removed the battery.
2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.
3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.
4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.
Hope this will help...Thank you for using Fixya...

I have yellow lines on my toughbook from top to
This would be a symptom of a bad screen. The other possibility is that the video cable might be loose. (It's attached to the back of the screen.) it's a rather thin wire; and at time, may work loose. With a toughbook; due to the costs, and expertise required to work on them, make sure you take it to a shop that has experience. OR, you may end up with further problems

You could go into safe mode and change your password, you can do this by tapping f5 key when system is starting up, then go to your control panel then into user accounts. Just make sure you are logging in as the administrator.
If your not running windows xp you will have to tap f8 when starting system for vista.
Hope this help. :)

My toughbook does not recognise USB memory
Please follow the steps as mentioned below
1
Shut down your computer the proper way if possible, via your
"Start" menu. If your system is completely locked up, however, then
press your PC's power button and hold for 5 to 10 seconds, and your
computer tower will turn off.
2
Unplug your computer - this is a very, very important step!
Unplug your PC from its power supply. This will typically be the
uppermost black cord at the back of your tower. For a notebook or
laptop, remove the computer's battery and then un-pug its cord from the
laptop. It is not enough to switch off your surge protector - you must
unplug the cord from your laptop.
3
Wait for at least 30 seconds after all you computer and
Internet equipment is unplugged. This will allow enough time for any
residual power to drain out of your different devices. You can speed up
the process as you wait, by pressing the power button on your unplugged
computer, which will help to drain all the power that is left over in
your PC's motherboard.
4 Now reconnect all the Device and check the issue should be resolved. Please try connecting the USB device directly to the Computer's USB port.
Hope this should resolve the issue.. Please get back if the issue still persist.
Thank you. Bye

It means that the CD has smudges or scratches on it. Try to wipe it clean with a tissue or lens cleaning towelette. If it is really bad you may need to get a professional to clean it or buy another recovery cd.
