My washer is not draining or spinning. it is

Hi, Thank You for your question. What I would like you to do is take a shallow pan, and set it below the filter down below in the front. I you don't see it, remove the kickplate. Its round and looks like a handle. Slowly turn counterclockwise until water starts to drain into pan. Drain pan when partially full. Repeat this process until no more water comes out. Then unscrew filter and remove and clean. Reinstall and make sure its snuggly tightened down. Should solve your problem. Have a good day.

My maytag washer mah-24 have

Unlocking the door:
Turn on the washer, but don't start any wash cycles. After a few minutes, the door should unlock itself.

Troubleshooting the "nd" message:
"nd" means "no drain". Empty the (now unlocked) washer and fill the wash tub with just enough water to see a bit of water at the bottom of the tub. Run a drain cycle and check a) if it drains and b) if there are any unusual noises while it is draining. If either event occurs during the drain cycle, the drain pump may have to be repaired/replaced.

As I sit here with my Maytag Neptune MAH8700AWW torn apart, I can tell you it is impossible to unlock and the 800 number is no help. They tell you to unplug it for 5 minutes. Some web posts talk about a "magical release cord" under the top cover but it does not exist.

We have a Maytag MAH2400A

Hi Bridget.

The problem happens when too much detergent or the wrond kind of detergent is used (see the manual to find out what kind of detergent is best for your washer).

The machine detects an excess of detergent and prompts SUDS, when you switch cycle to drain it will signal nd to show that there is a drain blockage, probably caused by detergent accumulating in drain pump hose.

Repair is done accessing the hose connected to the drain pump and removing blockage.

On most front locaser the pump hose is accessed through the door located at the base of the machine front side, under the door.
To access the pump disconnect power, remove the plastic trim, open access door rotate anticlockwise drain access and be ready to collect water that will flow abbundantly.
Details are also illustrated on manual.
Always remember to disconnect power before starting.

F 02 message keeps appearing, and the the washers

"F02" is a Long Drain error. This is usually an indication of an obstruction somewhere in the drainage system, or a failed drain pump. In most cases, the drain pump reservoir needs to be cleaned out. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574284-checking_the_drain_pump_on_a_front_loade

If you check the drain pump reservoir and the problem still persists, you may have a pump with a damaged motor/impeller, or something lodged in one of the drain lines. In particular, the drain line that runs from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the pump.

I recommend you remove the inlet hose, as well, and inspect for clogs. In is common for small garments to become lodged in this area and restrict water flow to the drain pump. Check the output drain line for obstructions as well.

It does not take much to damage these small drain pumps. The error code is generated if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes. So...if the impeller or motor become damaged, and the pump does not pull water at the correct volume, you may still experience the drain error. In this case, you will have to replace the pump in order to get the error to clear. The following link explains how:

Replacements parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying the parts you may need.

NOTE: For an explanation of all the error codes, each one of these appliances come with a technical data sheet inside.

To access, you will need to remove the lower toe panel under the door. The access screws are located under the bottom front edge of the panel. You may have to prop the two front fett of the washer up for better access ( a 2x4 works well for this). With the screws removed, the panel should drop down, then come off. If the tech sheet isn't directly behind the panel, it will be affixed to one of the interior cabinet walls.

The tech sheet lists all error code definitions, troubleshooting data, diagnostics procedures and wiring diagrams. I mention the tech sheet because you may need it to troubleshoot this error code.

Read through the information provided and let me know if you have any further questions. I hope you find this information helpful.

I'm trying to find the

HI. This particular unit dose not have a drain filter or "lint filter" before the pump. This is a huge design flaw that will cause pump damage if coins or other debris escape into the drainage system. Make sure to clear all coins or obstructive materials from your pockets when washing clothes.

Concerning the musty(mold spores) order in the basket:

The odor that you are experiencing will be from the growth of mold. Inside the washer, some small pools of water may be left standing and is harboring mold spores. These pools will exist inside the drainage pump and hoses, as well. Even though you may operate the washer regularly, the mold spores are not being washed away.I have a couple of tips that might help to eliminate odor issues in your washing machine. First, and the most effective in my research is to, leave the door to the unit open. By leaving the door open after each wash, it promotes air circulation and evaporation of standing water. The reduction in odor, will occur quickly and dramatically.

My second tip is to run the washer empty for a quick rinse cycle. Add an entire cup of bleach at the start of the cycle. The bleach is effective at destroying organisms, such as mold and bacteria. However, running it once will not be completely effective. I suggest pouring another cup of bleach into the wash basket, after the cycle has completed. This will leave bleach as the standing pool and should prevent the growth of mold or bacteria. However, if you do this, before doing a load of laundry you should run an empty rinse cycle again, to avoid damage to the clothes from the bleach left standing in the wash tub.

My third tip will be to use nothing more than the HE(powder) detergent. Do not use liquid forms of HE detergent or fabric softeners in this unit or any other front-loader. The powder form will tend to wash away more efficiently and it will not gum up the internal hoses and pump, thus, causing mold growth within the system. I should also advise to wipe down the gasket or bellow after every wash, as well. This is a huge collection spot of gunk and mold.

In conclusion, performing these adjustment to your normal routine will reduce the musty order and rid your unit of mold spores and other order causing bacterias.
