Washer fills with cold water but does not stop
If it fills with water and starts the cycle and
the water keeps running in then your water inlet valve on the back where the
water supply comes in is sticking. It needs replacing.
OR
Your pressure switch stops the
water and allows it to start the next cycle. It's a switch either in the
control panel or at the top of the tub with a small tube connected to it which
goes down between the inner and outer tube. As the water level increases the
air in the tube is compressed until there is enough pressure to make the switch
stopping the water from filling. This tube can get clogged and the switch won't
work. Remove the tube and clean it out. Blowing on the tube when it's still
connected to the switch will make the switch if it's working and clear.
My washer continually blows a fuse
If your machine is the Maytag stacked washer/dryer combo, there are a couple of areas I would look at. The first is the lid switch assembly. The fuse is a safety device designed to blow if the lid switch malfunctions. The two lid switches interact and if they don't both switch at the same time it can blow the fuse.
The second thing to try is to wash a load on cold water only and see if the fuse blows. See if there is a water supply issue. Check the water inlet valve. Remove the water supply hoses and check the small screens in the water inlet valve. Make sure they are clean and clear of rust or debris. Use a mulitmeter or ohmmeter to check the solenoids for continuity. A lack of continuity would indicate a faulty solenoid and the water inlet valve assembly will need replaced. These are a couple of things to consider. Hope this helped and best wishes.
The tub is leaking in the botto center
had the same problem...the washers that hold the water in need to be replaced...only $20 for parts, but labor is $700 to take entire thing apart and is not covered after 1 year [I've had 9 yrs]; I opted to trash / replace entire stack unit; buy new amana washer & dryers @ home depot b4 7/29/09 / big sale!
How do you get them apart
I have the perfect website for you problem "appliancepartspros.com" You enter your model number and woola......the have complete breakdowns in picture form as well as "how too" instructons and all the parts needed. They also have a blog you join and ask questions where an expert in appliance repair responds with and answer. The prices for parts cant be beat. You will find all your anweres on the wesbite, and with the picture breakdown you will probably be able to figure out how it comes apart by yourslfe. but again, the have all the intructions on "how to" available for you.
Dryier does not Start
If your dryer's door switch is defective, it will not allow your dryer to start. Test your dryer's door switch. If it is defective, replace it.
A thermal fuse is a heat-sensitive fuse attached to your dryer's exhaust duct (in most models) that is designed to blow if the dryer overheats. A blown fuse would cause your dryer to not heat, or to not work at all. Open up your dryer's cabinet and locate its thermal fuse. Test the component. If it has blown, replace it.
Kicking out water during wash cycle - spin instead of agitation
Hi,
Try these
- Check the drain hose, it should be at least as high as the top of the wash tub, about 38 inches.
- The drain hose must sit loosely in the house drain. Do not seal the air gap around the drain hose or a siphon will occur.
- Check the drain control lever
- Test the drain control coils
- Check the cam bar

Maytag LSG7800AAW Dryer not working
Its Either One Of Two Problems If Its Electric Its The Thermostat but if its gas it can be either the thermostat or the igniter. If its gas you can watch the igniter or listen to hear if its lighting. If it lights its the thermostat cause if the thermostat is malfunctioning it will turn the gas off when it doesn't detect the flame. It turns the gas off to prevent your home from filling with gas. Hope this helps.
Thanks For Choosing Fixya

My washer wont drain water or spin.
Do you have any lights flashing or error codes?
When this happens, it is either due to plugged drain or screen/filter or the system is faulty.
My washer will not fill up, only the spin cycle
H20 supply is turned off, h20 valves are bad, or the timer is bad. if water is turned on, replace water valve, but first check to make sure power to water valves, if power is present, replace water valve, if not, replace timer.
I have a old Maytag Stackable W/D combo breaker
If it has one it will be a small red button toward the rear of the motor. You may also want to make sure that "both" fuses are good in the circuit box. 220 volt machines use 2 fuses as opposed to the 1 for a 110 volt machine.
