Have you taken the hoses off and checked to see if there is a screen in the hoses?............or on the machine itself its a longshot but usually there are little mesh screen filters either in the hoses or on the machine itself. If its knocking its either dry (no water) or the solenoid is going bad.Cheap fix possibilty get a Y connector hose and you can mix your hot and cold water in there then just feed it through the hot water side. Or just hook your cold water hose up to the hot water side and just wash with cold water. If you are looking to just get it running and save money.A couple thoughts anyways I’m happy to assist further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/robert_54ae41aaaffbab00

Need help in replacing a broken belt

First unplug the washing machine to avoid injury while working inside. Remove the bottom access panel by removing the two screws located at the bottom. Pull the panel down and out. This will give you access to where the belt is.

Hello ,after using the machine, water keep

Hi Alex. Welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

Water leaking by when the unit is supposed to be off is caused by water leaking by the inlet water valve diaphram.

Here is what you can do in an attempt to clear any internal debris of the water valve.

Both wall faucets off
1. Disconnect One hose from the water valve and remove the inlet screen by using a knife blade on the outer edge of the screen.
2, Reconnect that hose to the water valve.
3. Place the wall end of the hose in a bucket
4. Turn on the water at the wall for the hose that is still connected to the wall.
4. Select WARM wash and start a fill cycle. (Water will back flush into the bucket.
5. Use a hammer HANDLE and tap the hose connections of the water valve. (Your trying to losen the debris)
6. After a minute turn off the warm fill and the water faucet at the wall.
7. Disconnect the removed hose from the water valve and install the inlet screen AFTER cleaning the screen.
8 Reconnect the hose to the water valve and the wall connection.
9. Repeat steps 1 - 8 for remaining side.

If this does not stop the water drip then the water valve will have to be changed.

I will repost later the water valve part number and source.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Turn off the cold water faucet.
Remove the water hose from the machine and the faucet.
Clean out the filter screen in the washer water valve.
Look in the hose for a secondary screen and clean it also if one if there.
Not all hoses have screens.
All water valves do have screens.

Our Maytag A 612 does not spin and makes a loud

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

You have one of the work horses that was built before Whirlpool bought out Maytag.

IF the base and cabinet are in good shape it just might be worth keeping. Not that I am partial or anything but I still have a 1980 model washer and a 1973 (A606) model dryer that work fine both maytags. They are still serving me well.

There are few things that can cause it not to Spin
1. The motor is not reversing (motor itself a problem)
2. The timer contacts have failed internally.
3. The brake is locked under the large pulley on the bottom of the machine.
4. The radial bearing under the transmission has failed and locked up. (posible source of LOUD noise like a roar) I would like a better explanation of the loud noise.

I would honestly invest in the cost of a service call to get an on stie evaluation of repair costs.

On a machine that age expect the following recomendations for parts replacement by the repair tech.
.
1a. Radial bearing
2a. Drive belts (2)
3a. Tub bearing
4a. Motor mount rollers

Other possibilites
a. injector kit
b. tub fill hose
c. timer

If he looks at it and comes up the with same needed parts list 1a - 4a above and a recommendation for repair.... Fix it because there are very few machines out there today that will perfom and last like your washer.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Cannot locate proper spring placements

The tub springs are attached to the slot on the base of the washer just under the rear edge of the tub while the other ends are attached in a V-position to the slots on the flange at the bottom edge of the tub. Attach the springs upsidedown to avoid the possibility of rubbing each other and result in a noisy operation of the washer.

Water leaks from the hub section at the bottom of

the hub seal can be replaced but without the specialty tools to do so it would be a major endevour,
this particular machine has a habit of ripping through the tripple lip seal,,,
it is involves a complete breakdown of the machine and removal of the transmission to replace the hub seal,,
maytab took it upon the selves to make the hub wrench a three pin spanner an you will need it for the torque to unscrew the hub nut and you will need the insert to get the seal nut as well

i would hav eto say it might be time to replace the machine
unless you are within the first year,,,of the warrenty

This fill hose is leaking on my maytag a612

Hi FordMan! The little thing is the water inlet valve and it is not possible to bypass it, since that is what allows the water to flow into the washer and is what also shuts the water off, once the tub is at the level needed or selected.

However, you might discover that if you shut off the main water supply valves at the house connection point, you can just tighten the hose connection at the water valve, as it might just be a little bit loose.

If that's not the problem, remove both the hot and cold water supply hoses from the washer side and replace the rubber washers in the hose ends.

And if that doesn't resolve the leaking problem, you'll have to replace the water inlet valve to stop the leak. But try the first 2 steps before you move onto replacing the valve.

If you discover you need a new valve, you can go to www.searspartsdirect.ocm and with the full model number of your washer, locate the replacement valve and see a line drawing of your washer and get the price for the valve. This is an easy repair for most DIYr's to tackle and you should be able to do it, once you've got the parts, in about 20-30 minutes with just a couple of common hand tools. Just remember to unplug the washer before attempting any repair and turn off the water supply connection at the wall near the washer.

I will suggest, as the manufacturers all do these days, that if your machine is over 8-10 years old, you also replace both the Hot and Cold water supply hoses, as hoses tend to start to break down after 8 years and could rupture causing extensive water damage, etc.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
