Importing Videos to Microsoft Movie Maker
Hi, i have a perfect solution but it costs around £30. Buy Ulead VideoStudio 11 plus. Its excellent, for one thing, it picks up your disk when you put it in and also you can edit it. I had the same problem but since i got this is was fixed!

Disc will not play in dvd
Try a different disk type.
Possibly do not use RW , use preferably single use -R and +R, and ensure you buy good brand ones.

Message says door open when it is closed
if there is a sensor that detects the door then it probably needs to be replaced
if it is a switch that detects the door the switch will need to be inspected
it will need to be tested to determine the exact cause of the malfunction
there is an electronic circut not detecting the door

Cannot finalize
Just to clarify - when you say try to finalize the disc on the DVD recorder, do you mean the DVD camcorder i.e. the VDR D100? if not and you mean an actual DVD recorder then this is where your problem lies, as the disc can only be finalized in the VDR D100 unit itself. this could be the reason behind the poor quality when you watch the clip using windows media player.
If i've got the above wrong, and you were talking about finalization problems on the unit itself all along then the following might help: how full is the disc you are finalizing? if it is pretty full then delete one or two unwanted clips and try finalizing again (this worked for me when i had this problem).
if the disc is not really full then it gets trickier. let me know if it works

I have lost my instruction
Try going to the manufacturer's website and downloading a new instruction manual. Most companies will offer this option.

Transfering dvd ram disc to computer
try buying ulead videostudio and it doesnt even need to be finalized.
videostudio was great for me because i could simply put in my disc and then click on import from disc and it would import it onto my computer. hope that helps.

Panaconic VDR D100
im sure that your mini dvd will be readable with your dvd rom. if its not then try to use your mini dvd with your camcorder and use usb wire to connect it to your pc. install the cd driver came with your camcorder. use ulead movie maker to detect the camcorder and edit it to that. save it with any various types of videos that you like burn it with nero burner as a dvd disc.now you can watch it to your dvd player. hope that helps!

Mini-DVD playback
two things:
1) connect the camcorder to your computer using a USB cable and play it through that, by the way, what computer is it?
2) you can finalize without the ac adapter - its a built in safeguard to ensure that there is enough power to allow finalization to complete

Play back
yes, you need to format the disc before you record on it, this can be done on the unit itself.
before you can watch your dvd using your dvd player or anything else you need to finalize the disk, this can be done in the setup option on the camera

Finalizing a dvd
THis solution follows on from ThaMP3Doctor's one which i rated 'helpful', as although it doesnt solve the problem it gave me the clue which helped me to solve the problem i posted above - so im kind of answering my own question here!
The reason THaMp3Doctor's solution was only rated helpful is becasue as far as i can find, you cant finalize the disk in your PC, you have to do it in the camcorder.
so here goes: Following ThaMp3Doctor's comment that if the disc is full it doesnt finalize i checked to see how full my disc was - it only had 25 secs of record time left. so i deleted a scene i knew i wasnt going to use and tried to finalize again = it worked! :-)
Please give this a try and rate my solution as would like to know if others have success with it. good luck!

How do I transfer my
this is how i do it:
I use nero vision express 3 to edit my dvds. first just finalize the disc on the camcorder (if it lets you! i;m having trouble with mine on a particular disc), hook it up to your computer, use nero vision express 3 to import the disc (it helpfully converts the file format into mpg for you) and there you go!
im sure there are plenty of other ways to do it too.
