Turn off card protection
The SD card has a small "lock" slide switch on its side. Simply slide it away from the contacts edge.

Battery for panasonic camera
Wow, a trivia question, it’s so unusual that something is not broken.
I think it is actually a “T” and used as a center tap of the battery used during manufacturing.
The scene mode is in one loop!!!!!
I had this exact problem. The FX01 thought I was holding down the 'up' button!
I sent it back under warranty and they replaced the board. However that doesn't mean it was unfixable; it's just cheaper for them to replace boards than test them and fix them. IMO.
Panasonic lumix -fx01 digicam isnt responding
After posting on here I took my FX01 to a repair centre and was informed the motherboard had died. They couldn't give a specific reason for this, saying it could be anything relating to humidity, extreme temperatures, static, even just a slight knock, etc. Cost of repair was higher than purchase of a new camera so I grudgingly went for that option. I hope you guys have better luck!

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01 Less than 1 year old
same problem with ours, only 7 months old. We returned to the seller under warranty, and they fixed the problem FOC. They stated "lens adjustment" on the repair invoice.
I think these machines are not as sturdy as we are led to believe, and the slightest knock or bump sends them a bit squew wiffy!

My only direct suggestion is to take the battery out for a few minutes and then replace it. Failing that, try running the camera with charger without battery installed.
My Lumix won't stick it's lens out.
I recently had this problem after a trip to a sandy beach. The solution was to take the camera apart and blow out all the sand and dust.
To help you get it apart, take off all the obvious outside screws and then unhinge the back and front, with the hinge point being the top.
The back and screen can easily be removed by tugging on the cables where they fix into the circuit board. (Just push the large cable back in, for the smaller cable you need to use the little hinge on it (initially put the hinge towards the edge of the camera, insert the small cable, then fold the hinge back towards the centre of the camera.
Continue to take out small silver coloured screws with a jeweler's screwdriver. I was able to get to the elecromechanical optical train in this way. I did not have to remove the tiny black screws inside this unit. After thorough cleaning and blowing out dust/ sand etc. the camera was fairly easy to put back together.
Total time was about 90 minutes.
Note: there was no need to take off any of the buttons on the top, nor to take out the battery nor memory card.
Good luck.
Opening a DMC-FX01 case
most electronic packages today use a combination closure of screws and tabs that interlock at mating points. It appears that you have found the latter method and are "stuck". No, I have not opened one of these, but I would try to determine where the mating tabs are located. Sometimes you can "feel" these tab locations by slight bending of the plastic body. Where it is stiffest to bend, that is usually where a tab is located. Also, sometimes mating parts use an additional "slide-locking" method where the mating parts must first slide laterally to unlock. In worst case if a tab breaks after repeated attempts, you can re-attach the tab using super glue and then (after drying) use a solder iron to make a few "spot" welds to mate the plastic tab by melting it to the shell body.
