Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ5 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
Faulty focus
Have you tried changing the focusing mode to one of the other settings? I usually find central point setting best for zoom. Alternatively, you could try using Macro (the flower) setting - I leave mine on this all the time it's really the best general purpose mode.
Memory card protected
SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Do you really need the Panasonic software? The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa (

Lz5 card does not work
Make sure you're using an SD card, 2GB and smaller. The DMC-LZ5 will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

Computer not seeing camera
Here are a few things you can try:- Plug the camera into a different computer and see if it's detected on a different computer. - Ensure the software for the camera is installed and up to date on the computer you are plugging the camera into. - Plug a different device (printer, iPod, Mouse, etc...) into your computer into the same port. If a different device is not detected - it may be that the port on your computer is broken. If that's the case, then use a different port for the camera. Those are some general things to try to get you headed in the right direction.
I have a wonderful camera
On my digital SLR there is a setting that you can change either to display the noise levels and picture, or turn it off. Check your manual and see how you can turn this feature off if you don't want it.
I am trying to transfer pics from my camera to my
Here are some steps to run through to make sure the camera works as you'd expect it:
- Ensure that all cables are properly secured from the computer to the camera.
- Ensure that the memory card has not been dislodged from the camera.
- Check
the camera's memory socket and the memory card for debris. A can of
'compressed air' can work wonders (typically available at any computer
store).
- Make certain that the port connecting the camera
to the computer is not damaged. Look for any bent pins in the camera's
memory slot. Try replacing the camera cable. If the camera uses a USB
port, try another USB port. If you don't have another USB port
available, try plugging in another USB device to verify that the USB
port is working.
- Check the power source on the camera. If
you're using batteries while attempting to transfer the pictures to the
PC, try changing your batteries, recharge the batteries, or use an A/C
adapter.
- Try reinstalling the digital camera software on
your computer. In most cases, reinstalling over top of the existing
software will resolve this issue.
- Take the media out of
the digital camera and attempt to download it to another computer. If
all else fails, try formatting the camera media. Most newer-generation
digital cameras equipped with an LCD screen have a menu option that can
format your media.
Hope this helps.
My camera says it is
Your camera model can only use 2GB or less standard SD cards. Fortunately, 2GB standard SD cards are relatively inexpensive these days, and may be purchased on Amazon or eBay.
There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Other causes include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at
this link.
