If you find that the washer drains but doesnt spin a unfortunite but cronic problem with the neptune espically if it is a bit older is going to be the motor control board and maytag reccomended that both motor and control board be replaced and they have a parts kit that contains both the motor and control board

One of the water inlet solenoid valves is faulty -- it's not closting when the "water-fill" function is off. The solenoid valves are the parts the hoses on the back of the wahser are connected to. There are two -- hot and cold.

Cleaning them and replacing wahsers / O-rings / gaskets may solve the problem or may need to be replaced. More info, let me know.

  • The "Lr" code indicates that the washing machine's motor is not running as it should.

Open the top lide by removing screws holding top lid in back. Or remove bottom access panel if applicable. Find the technician diognostiuc sheet. It tells you how to test the motor and how to enetr automatic diagnostic mode. Run test it will tell you how to test the motor and what the solution is. If you have anymore questions please comment me back.

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or back feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET valve to open up and allow water to flow into and then run the wash cycle and proceed. If any one cycle is absent then the voltage at the function end be it the valve or motor must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

Try and swap to confirm before you invest.

The code is telling that the control board maybe at fault. That will tell you that both the wiring and the motor windings are proper,and you will need to replace the main control board,or you have a loose connection or damaged wire in the harness to the motor.

When my washer did that, I found that the shocks that hold the tub were bad...

Check out this tip I wrote about the noise and vibration that front loadwashers can make..

You should check the drain tube on the back of the washer and check the strainer to see if there are any obstructions.

hi that is a bad tub baring and seal which a costly fix at that age i don't think i would fix it

Maytag Neptune... | Answered on Jun 06, 2011

Hello, it sounds like your Neptune's bearings and seal need replaced... See NeptuneBearing for more info on replacing your bearings and renting the special tool kit to save you time.

I see that you have a MAH4000 Neptune. Did you know that your machine shipped with a faulty door latch wax motor that will eventually damage the control board? See NeptuneHelpSong for a video that explains what happens when it fails. You can proactively upgrade your wax motor before it fails and prevent the failure to the control board.

I hope this helps...

Hello, The earlier Maytag Neptune front loaders have a balance ring on the inner tub that has liquid in it and that causes the sloshing sound when you turn the tub by hand. That is normal.

I noticed that you have a MAH3000... Have you replaced your door latch wax motor yet? If not, it will fail and damage your control board located behind the timer. See NeptuneHelpSong for a video that explains the failure.

I hope this helps...

3E means overcurrent detected at the motor.

Open the control panel, there should be a tech sheet in there that explains how to put the machine into service mode (press chime and extra rinse keys for three seconds) and what to do while in service mode to track this down. Once on service mode, you can cycle through and retrieve all diagnostic codes, and lots of other stuff that'll help you track this down.

You can also go ahead and check out the windings on the motor. Unplug harness connector and test from wire insertion side.

Pin #1 and Pin #2 of CN9 == 11.6 ohms
Pin #1 and Pin #3 of CN9 == 11.6 ohms
Pin #2 and Pin #3 of CN9 == 11.6 ohms
If the error code somes up all the time as soon as you press the power on button, then it means your control board is bad and reading incorrectly. If it only happens during a cycle, then you need a new motor unfortunately.

Hope helps.

re original issue, see if R11 is burned. if so, need to change R11 resistor and associated triac, and probably wax motor so it won't do it again. temporary fix just cut out R11, door won't lock. if your model won't spin that way, depress actuator for microswitch from door wax motor. instructions on web.
