Maytag Neptune Series MAH5500BW Washing machine is very loud and shakes during the spin cycle. It does not walk, is level and on a ceramic tile floor. No visible leaks. Apparatus on top of machine where detergent is added shakes during the spin cycle as well.
very loud in spin cycle can mean a bad rear bearing, not something a homeowner would want to try to replace, parts would exceed 6-7 hundered dollars. you may have some extended part warr through the manufacture. still probly gonna be a 5 hundred when the labor is added in

Maybe a dumb question but..... if you don't have the manual anymore, how do you determine the size of your washer tub? i.e. 3.0 cu ft, 4.0, etc?
The answer is:
CAPACITY 3.1 Cubic Feet
The reference for this answer can be found here:

Seach in this document for "capacity".

I have a front loading Maytag Neptune Washer that is about 3 years old. It stopped washing a load and registered error code Lr.

says:
just an FYI to anyone who might need to know. my neptune started kicking up an error of LR and stopping. i ended up sending an email to maytag and got a response back from one of their techs. the LR code means "Locked Rotor". when this happens the cause is one of two items. 1) the circuit board at the top of the unit has lost connection to the motor and its control board at the bottom (connector loose) or 2) the motor and or control board at the bottom have trashed and need to be replaced (P/N 12002039).
hope the info helps someone as i had a heck of a time finding it.

Extremely loud noise during spin cycle of my Neptune dryer--just started happening in the last month. The dryer is probably 7-8 years old, so it's not the newer Neptune model.
Hi,
Here is a tip that I wrote about dryers and noises...
It will help you determine what is happening there...

It is about 16 years old & has been a great unit.
Some washing machines are made with hardened plastic parts instead of metal. You may have a plastic knuckle( used during the wash cycle to aggitate the items) that has worn a bit and needs replaced. I had the same issue with our Kenmore a few years back. The replacement knuckle was $100 plus tax. If you are handy with instructions and your hands it is something that can be done at home with the proper tools and time. I had no time to fix ours and the service charge cost $150.

i have a MAH3000 washing machine. a few months ago, it had smoke inside drum area when the cycles finished (per wife, i could never verify). it soon started sounding like a jet engine. last weekend i replaced the bearings and it is still smoking. it is doing a fine job cleaning the clothes and spinning the water out. last night after a complaint from the misses, i opened the door and there was a fine misty smoke. it smelled faintly of neoprene (best descpition i have) and damp. the smoke lingered a long time and did not smell or feel warm at all, it actually felt cool and damp. i hope you have heard similar and can help pinpoint the problem. damp, cool, lingering smoke inside the drum is confusing me?!?
it could be the seal on the drum or it could be the belt getting too warm
