My DVD will not work at all, can't get the drawer
Check that C1801 is not leaky. If so, check if IC1801 has blown. If it has blown, it will also need to be replaced.
Usually it's only C1801 leaky, replace it and thats it.
You can find the capacitor on the main board, under the digital board that has ribbon cables going to the dvd drive.
Hope this helps.

Panasonic DMR-EX88 recorder was working fine but
Either the remote itself is exhibiting strange behaviour, or the unit's IRD controller circuit (and/or the IRD itself) is faulty. Perhaps when you changed the batteries, the remote needs to be 're-commanded' (that means entering a remote code by pressing and holding 2 buttons together for 10 seconds - example - 1 + ENTER/OK) - this should be done whenever the batteries are replaced. If this does not restore the remote to full control, then the IRD (and/or its controller circuit) is the most likely suspect; or, worst case scenario; your remote is defective. I hope it isn't the latter.
I suggest you submit the unit to an authorised service centre for a quote (since this is not a disc drive replacement/alignment it shouldn't be too expensive) then you can decide for yourself afterwards as to what further action to take. Up to you, it is not unfixable. You can always ask Panasonic directly for straight answers and get a second opinion at the same time.
I hope you do not need a new remote at this stage.

Panasonic DVD recorder #DMR-EH65.
Hello timmy: The recording process on the dvd recorder side is done is done by a seperate lens from the playback, so there could be something wrong with the writable side of the optical assembly, another thing to consider trying is the cleaning disc if you haven't tried this, another brand of blank disc and finally a firmware update is available from panasonic for the specific model you have, I don't know if you have updated it but here is the overall description:
DMR-EH55 DVD Recorder Firmware Update
-
Version
UP-317
-
Compatible Models
DMR-EH55S
-
Issues Addressed
Issues Addressed
- Corrects DVD Recorder hang-up or freezing during DVD playback caused by connection to Scientific Atlanta cable box model # 3250.
- Resolves U71 error message caused by HDMI connection to Philips TV.
- Improves DVD-Video playback of DVD+RW discs.
- Prevents DVD Recorder from turning on Panasonic TV's power by HDAVI control (EZ Sync) when connected with HDMI at completion of copying or finalizing.
- Resolves SET CLOCK MANUALLY tab being grayed out after a power failure.
I hope this is helpful and the update is available from panasonic.com, all you need is to type the model number in the search windows after you click the support option. Thanks!

DMR-ES20D not reading discs,error message
No disc error is usually caused by dirty optical lens or a faulty lens.
Turn it off, unplug it, then try cleaning it with a very soft dry cloth
and then try playing a cd which has no scratches.
The blue color part, that's called optical lens. It looks like a glass
but its not a glass, its a plastic cap for the laser to go thru to read
the discs. Never apply any wet solutions on it. Just use a soft dry
cloth to rub off the dirt on it. If u absolutely have no idea what im talking about, then take it to a local repairing store to get it fixed. If the cost is too expensive, then dump it and get a new one

Have lost most of digital channels
I had similar problerm.
Solution was to go to Functions - to Others - to SETUP - select Shipping Conditions.
After the unit has been reset to shipping conditions, switch off.
When next switched on it will autosetup like when you first got it and all channels should then reinstall.
