My panasonic th-42pwd8uk tv wont power on. When I press power it clicks to turn on then clicks again and the screen never shows up. No red lights no blinking lights just a solid green light.

Check the capacitors and replace the power components. It is an easy fix if handy with soldering electronics. Tv Repairman may charge less than $100.00 bucks to fix it !Good luck

We have a black screen

That does sound like a A/V board issue. I guess the sound is output through external speakers/home theater system?

Tv will not turn on . I have already replaced

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV. My TV would turn off by itself, then not at all.

Here was my problem and it likely yours as well. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. This is a sure sign of failure. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional.

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE. Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board can cost in the hundreds. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. You can find TV repair kits online to repair this problem but it takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Good luck to you.

Aspect Ratio not responding/always in "Full" mode

Normally, when I see this problem in the customer's home, I find the main culprit to be the cable box. The remote for the cable box may have a button on it to change the format or picture size. You may have to go into the menu of the cable box to change the format setting. Hope this helps.

Side by Side Mode

You are looking for the "PIP" (picture-in-picture) button on your remote or in your TV's user menu ("menu" button).

Finding this on the remote and pushing should do it. If not on the remote, you'll find a menu item.

Panasonic 42 " TH-42PWD8BK

Sounds like a main board or a sustain board problem. This is most definantly not a repair job for the consumer to attempt. Please call in someone who is experienced with Plasma TV sets, as these boards can be very very expensive. Too expensive for you to guess and buy and then have to order the other one. Oh this model also has some power supply issues as well. Good Luck Please do not forget to rate this thread.

Random Side Panel Inputs

You either have a bad Main board or simply a bad touch control button in other word one of your side buttons is defective and it is blocking any other signal to the main board, but usually its a bad main board. In some cases ther is a FIRMWARE update from Panasonic, you may want to call Panasonic or check there website for any type of FIRMWArE UPDATE.
