Permanent horizontal black lines on my 50
Ive got bad news for you, about 90% of the time black horizontal lines are caused by the panel failing, your going to need a new TV. You can try replacing the timing board but the chances of it fixing it are slim..

How do u reset a 42in television with the brightness on the television all the way down?
Could it be, your TV is just defect? Could it be you think there is a kind of button, that can repair a defect TV?
Best thing to do is let a TV repair engineer look to it and let him decide what is wrong. Perhaps it is a simple thing, to repair, but it also could be it is a very serious fault.
If you checked every thing, like the power is connected correct, there is no fuse blown, then it stops for a normal user and he / she needs an expert. Even an expert, needs more than a hint to make a correct diagnose.
Sorry, but as a repair engineer, I nave managed to repair a TV (Or anything else, without seeing the apparatus myself.

Adjust brightness on panasonic th-50px60
The TV's Brightness setting only affects the intensity of the color white. The easiest way to see changes is to pause a movie or TV show that has clouds in the image. Then change your Brightness setting to your preferred video.
