Maytag PAV2300 Top Load Washer - Page 8 Questions & Answers
Load will not balance.
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
I mostly answer front load problems but ' out of balance' is a common problem with both!
It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly ;-0)
Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.
(If this has not cured the problem it is possible that the suspension is malfunctioning.)
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

I have a maytag pav2300aww top loader it fills up
Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. If you have a washer that has a weak agitation or no agitation at all, here are some possible solutions. You need to check your
belts. Most washers have one or two belts. Check your lid switch. If a lid switch is bad, it can cause the washer to not work properly. Sometimes, they will not work at all. Make sure you check your drive motor. The drive motor controls the spinning, draining, and agitation. Most washers have the reverse motor, meaning the shaft rotates in both directions, clockwise and counterclockwise. It is possible to lose one direction and not the other. Some washers have a clutch that controls the agitation. If it is bad or worn, it may prevent the agitator to work. Most of these washers come from General Electric. You could have a bad motor coupler. They are located on the side of the motor drive inside the washer. It is also possible that you have a bad transmission. Check the agitator itself. You could have a bad spline or two. The splin accompanies the shaft and allows the movement of the agitator. If you rule out all the parts above, you may have an electrical issue or an issue with the control board. It is very important to test each part and make sure it is getting power. If a part is not working and not getting any power, the power loss may be the reason that it doesn't work. You can test the current in the wires with a voltage meter. Thank you very much for reading this tip and thank you for using Fixya

How to replace timer knob on Maytag PAV 2300 aww,
This is from another site but does a good job of explaining how to change your timer:
http://www.the-appliance-clinic.com/myttimer.html
The hardest part will be swapping the knob because you have to lift the top of it off and sometimes they can be fiesty.
WORDS OF CAUTION.
DO NOT pull all the wires off of the OLD timer. DO a ONE for ONE wire swap. i.e pull one wire from the old timer... and hook it up to the new one on the exact same terminal as the old timer.

Water dripping from around top of tub when machine
The fill valve has failed. This part usually runs around 20 dollars and as little as 6 dollars
for the generic equivalent. It takes about a half an hour to change out. Unplug unit
before replacing and make sure the water is off before removing lines. I can usually
install them from above by leaning the drum towards the front. Hope this helps.
Not spin drying clothes enough
IF YOU ARE YOUSING A MANUAL MACHINE WITH gentel / normal dile settings ,the problem would be the dial is stuck on gentle load and not selecting normal load spin ,[ Two things ]
1 the wire to the normal contact can be changed to the wire on the gentle contact and put the removed wire off the gentle contact on to the normal spin contact of the dial this will give full spin only if this fails replace the spin dry switch assembly
2 if a timer is involved then the timer will need to be changed [ new one fitted ] BE SURE THE POWER PLUG IS WHERE YOU CAN SEE IT [ AND NOT PLUGED INTO ANYTHING ]
IF
In the wash cycle it makes a noise and the drum
There is a part under the agitator of your washer,
if you pull up at the agitator it will come out,
then there should be a separate plastic part under that held down possibly by a nut.
That part is probably worn down and needs to be replaced.
Best of luck to you
Will not spin hear it spinning but tub does not
If you are hearing the motor spin but the tub doesn't, then the motor coupling is bad. The coupling goes between the motor and transmission and enables the transmission to spin or agitate. You're going to have to open up the machine so you can access the motor. Then you will have to disconnect the motor and you will see the coupling.
My washer is 2 years old everything works except
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Sorry but I do not know your particular machine BUT I would suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters. The motor is unable to drain all of the water in the allotted time.
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is normally behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and held in by a round cover/knob.
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!
Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

Maytag Auto Load-Sensing Washer does not fill
Did you ever get an answer - all I see are ads :-(
We have the same problem. Not enough water to rinse - even with extra rinse selected. Even our laundry comes out the color of the laundry detergent. I'm sure this is a result of government regulations to reduce water usage. We'll contact Maytag tomorrow.
