check your door switch. if it is ok, get this kit part number LA-1053. This is a very common solution for this dryer. the thermostat fix kit will contain a thermostat and two other parts....one is for gas and the other is for electric. just read the instructions and you will know what one is for your dryer. these parts can be accessed by lifting the lid and looking to the rear of the cabinet past the drum. MAKE SURE TO UNPLUG THE DRYER FIRST

The agitator doesn't work on

Hi

Please make sure that motor is running fine and it is not jammed. If the motor is fine and moves freely then check the selector switch for any disconnections. If the selector switch is fine then you'll need to replace the timer. To disassemble the timer please unplug the washer. Remove the selector knobs by pulling straight off. Remove the 3 screws that secure the rear, top edge of the frame assembly to the end caps and rear shield. Pull the frame assembly forward and lay it on a cloth. To remove the timer knob locate the hole with the timer knob shaft at the rear center of the timer. Using a small flat blade screwdriver, pry the rod located in this hole up to release the timer knob. Knob and skirt can now be pulled off. The timer is locked into the control shield with the tabs. To remove the timer remove wiring harness plug, remove the screw and pry the tab located on the center of timer, slide it towards inside of machine. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

The brakes that are applied when the lid is closed is too abrupt, possible failure of the adjustments.
The auto brake mode for the lid is put in for safety measure so as to prevent any accidents.
You will need to check the stop condition of the motor, check if the brakes are too tight , if so release them off or you can even cut off the switch connection if you will work with caution.

Hi,

Your support bungees or tub shock supports are damaged or dislodged. This manual will show how to check the tub supports.http://appliancejunk.com/ge/washer/31-10008.pdf

Does it sound like a grinding or screeching type of noise? More that likely you need to change out the pump assume. Three bolts hold it to the bottom; remove the belt and hoses and change. Very simple operation.

Please get back to us if you have any further query or else accept the solution.

My maytag performa top loading washer will not

HELLO THERE
If it doesn't pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows: If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt. If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question
