Maytag Legacy Series Top Load Washer Questions & Answers
Cold water cycle doesnt work, no cold water at all, just hot
Could be the cold water solenoid is stuck or broken, maybe a wire has broken or terminal worked loose.
You need to take a look inside and check the wiring, check the supply to the solenoid, etc. If the supply is good the solenoid is probably faulty. If there is no supply it is possibly the board or the controller.
I was going to wash
Look around at outlets that are close by and make sure you didn't trip one of your GFCI breakers or plug in something to the same outlet and make sure you have power at the outlet where the washer is plugged into.
Maytag legacy series washer
The drive motor which spins the drum is connected to the drum by a rubber belt. Sounds like the belt is burned through. Make sure you can spin the inside tub by hand to verify that the tub can turn freely before you replace the belt. The hum is from the drive motor just spinning freely. Why dose the water notstop filling
first use a meter and check ur water pressure switch? that is what sends the machine the message to start wash cycle? You can test it with a meter and with a manual test? ( first locate it in the panel, it has a plastic clear tube hose going into it, remove that tube from its connection, now put another small tube or hose into the slot where it was and have the machine set to wash cycle with water in it. Blow into the other end of the tube. If the machine starts to wash. the pressure switch is more than likely good. now take the original hose tube and plug one end and blow into it the other end, it should be hard and have pressure, if it is easy to blow and u dont feel any pressure and it feels like the air is going out ? sometimes they get busted open or a pin hole and release air causing the water switch diaphram to not open. if both check ok then next the motor coupler or belt if belt driven.check with a multi meter for continuity the door switch, and if there is a little movement on wash cycle in 1 direction only then check the cam dogs in agitator.
Spin cycle wont work
Plug on motor (Multi-plug) has a burnt out wire as it has different speeds. Remove and check the plug (top comes off). Any burnt wire needs to be cut back to clean copper and refitted into plug.
Will not spin or agitate
All functions operate normally except the machine will not agitate. The agitator is driven by a couple of different methods. The first is the agitator is splined and slips onto the matching splines of the agitator shaft from the transmission. The second is the use of a bell coupling which is splined to the agitator shaft as well and the agitator snaps onto the coupling. If the agitator does not agitate, first remove the agitator and watch the agitator shaft to see if it is working properly. This wil require a small load setting of water and the machine set to run. If the agitator shaft is working properly, it is either the splines on the agitator or the bell coupling that is defective. If the agitator shaft does not work properly, the problem is in the transmission.
