Cobra 22 CHANNEL 2-WAY RADIOS Questions & Answers
Cobra PR4700WX -none of the controls work
If you find that the LOCK/MODE button does not correct the problem, I have discovered that the microphone button on the inside has a contact patch mounted on the board. This contact patch is like a piece of scotch tape with a metal dot in the center this slides off to the side and leaves the MIC deppressed continuosly which in turn will lock the radio. I have found this on several radios. Once you center the patch place just a small amount of super glue to the edges and yo will have no more problem
How to take apart mod#li6000
Try searching online for the "li6000 service manual" or contact Cobra. The user guide should have contact information and I know that is online.
Cobra PR4750WX - how do I adjust squelch?
You are right there is no adjustment. You can however turn the squelch off and this maybe what is happening to you.
To turn the squelch off you press and hold the button that is just below the push-to-talk button for at least 5 seconds.
To turn the squelch back on, you either press (less than 5 sec.) and the same button or change channels.
When talking with a specific party or group, you should use the tone coded squelch (CTCSS) and that will mitigate the noise if you are not already doing that.
Can we turn off the beeps after transmitting.
Some Cobra radios have a selectable "Roger Beep" while others do not. Without the model number I can't tell if yours can be switched off or not, but if the option is not mentioned in your operating instructions the beep is permanently ON.
I have 4 radios. Initially they all worked
These are FRS/GMRS radios. You may have different privacy codes set on the radios. If a receiving radio has a different privacy code than a transmitting radio, you will not hear the transmission. This allows many people to share the 22 channels, but only hear transmission from their party.
Radio is beeping every 30 secoonds and no buttons
This could be a low power warning. Make sure that your batteries are fresh and fully charged, and that the contacts on the batteries and inside the radio's battery compartment are clean and free of corrosion.

Manual
Channels 8 through 14 are low-power FRS license-free channels. Operation on any other channel requires a GMRS station license issued by the FCC. Unauthorized/unlicensed use of the GMRS frequencies can result in stiff fines and confiscation of radio equipment.
