Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S600 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
My Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S600 stopped working. I
Remove the batteries and SD card, leave the battery door open, and put the camera in a jar along with a dessicant bag or a small bag of uncooked rice that has been opened. Put the lid on the jar and let it sit for a day or so. This should absorb any condensation inside the camera that may be keeping it from working properly.

This is the result of the gears in the viewfinder that run a barrel style gear are misaligned or mashing.
Two Solutions:
1. Replace or clean out and reseat the gears of the viewfinder. This requires a small bit of technical camera repair expertise.
2. Now do not laugh at this one. Turn the camera ON and immediately while the grinding is going on slap the camera very hard in the palm of your other hand. Do this repeatedly until the issue fixes itself. I have recommended and done this many many times and fixed a bunch of cameras this way. LOL The gears of the motor and the viewfinder barrel gear become misaligned so a good hard jolt seems to get them back in alignment and you should be good to go.
Good luck. Stop the laughing it works. LOL
Keeps saying low battery but
Your camera is a power hog. Try using the new high power battteries. Ther are expensive but generally work in this situation. There could also be a problem with the camera, I can't rule that out.

Hi,
Since you dropped your camera there is chance that circuit board will be malfunctioning .
First of all try to reset the system. Most of time this will fix the problem..
To reset, please Switch off and remove the battery and then after 20 minutes insert new batteries and now switch on the camera .
If the reset doesnt help then surely the problem is with the circuit board. Most of time some capacitors goes shorted or get fused because of high electric supply to the unit.
It is risk to do -it-yourself , take to authorized service center to get it repaired from technician .
Hope this helps .

How can i download newly
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Windows Photo Gallery or Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

I understand that you're not getting sound on the recorded videos when playing it in the Camera itself. Unfortunately, due to the bad design, the Camera does not have a built in speaker to generate sound when playing videos in it. It is required to connect the Camera to a TV or transfer the recorded videos to Computer to hear the audio on the videos.
This is a common issue with DSC S Series Sony Cameras.
Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any clarifications.
Power button stuck down on
Possible that this is a mechanical failure and the switch is broken or out of place. Remove the battery and check the charge, if this seems fine then replace and tap the camera upside to see if the buttons resets.
If not the camera must be taken out, try to open ONLY if you have the correct tools and do not try to open otherwise to damage the unit.
Best option is to take an opinion from Sony for estimation.
