That is an older model so I would consider the issue being a bad or failing capacitor on the powersupply or main board. You need special skill to deal with this.

I used this link today 7-24-2012 and it worked like a charm.http://www.box.net/shared/5rxsn87mqrA huge THANK YOU to the person who did the work that Epsonshould be doing.Without the scanner turned on, I downloaded the file, unziped it and extracted the files. I then ran the .exeAfter that I turned on the scanner and let Win 7 install the device.Simple as pie.

It all depends on what driver you have, it would probably be best if you went to the Epson web site, followed links for support and downloads and downloaded the latest driver for you scanner/operating system.

When I say that, I've just had a look and it maybe the case that this scanner isn't supported for Vista and beyond.

My only other suggestion to use their contact us link and ask them.

this is pretty ancient model, but... you can try to use winxp twain driver and it should work, your registry most probably will need bit of tweaking... version which will most probably work is TWAIN Driver v5.53A,

follow this procedure, disconnect your scanner from computer, run ccleaner to clean all rubbish, including registry clean.

download twain driver and then run it, force vista to accept it, reboot your computer. connect scanner and you will have then warning from vista about digital signature, disregard it and force install software. scanner should work.

i still would suggest newer version...

That is correct, sadly there is no way to make the Epson Perfection 1200 work in Windows 7. Do you have the original disks for the scanner? You can try installing in Windows Compatibility mode, but I do not believe that will work. But to try it, if you have the original software do:

Run the Program Compatibility Wizard

1. Open the Program Compatibility Wizard by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Use an older program with this version of Windows.
   
2. Follow the instructions in the wizard.
   

Okay, after careful investigation I have found that your scanner is not windows 7 complaint there fore there is no driver solution for this scanner. If you read below the last operating system this worked on was NT

Now if you have windows ultimate you can run a virtual machine on this and hopes it will work, Also a dual boot will be a solution as well. Otherwise its not compatable.

I remember looking for hours for a driver for my Epson 1200 scanner back when I upgraded by dad to Vista 64 Bit, eventually I found one. Just today I upgraded him to Windows 7 64 bit and remembered I couldn't get it to work, luckily I was able to dig up the driver I used for Vista 64. Worked great in Windows 7.

I can't remember where I found it so I can't credit the person who made the driver unfortunately, however i've uploaded it to Rapidshare for you to download. Here is the link:

Just open up the zip file and run the setup. :)

Since the device is already old Epson didn't create and driver for it to work Vista and Windows 7, but as a work around some people have tried using the driver for XP to make the unit to work with Vista but not yet tried on Windows 7 , by the way you can also use or download the driver from this link that is made by third party manufacturer and it work with Vista.

It's possible that your original software disc has been damaged (scratches).

Are you talking normal XP or something more specialist...If normal just download the twain driver from the epson site. I cannot get the copy utility to work but the twain give you the functionality to scan. Following the other threads here I have been able to get this scanner two work even better on 64bit Vista
