You need to update the firmware on the printer. This error indicates that the printer has received a print command it does not understand. Go to HP.com and search for updates for your printer.

Error 49 or 79 is a conflict from your computer or print driver. Turn printer off and cancel any and all jobs in printer queue.(via your computer) Unplug the USB or the network cable and power down your computer. Power up your printer, see if it comes to a ready state. If it comes to ready go to printer menu and print a report. If this prints fine, replug cable to printer, power up computer, and send another job to printer. A corrupt job or PDF is usually the culprit in this situation. Hope this helps.

The Electronic Transfer Belt probably needs replacing.

Re-install the print drivers, ensuring you use the most current ones for your operating system. Shut off the printer, wait 10 secs and plug it back in. Should work fine for you.

It's an adobe issue. Try a different driver. Update firmware. The document may also be corrupt.

Using the control panel, run the "disable cartridge" check test. Using this test you will be able to put the magenta toner in another slot. If it works there(in another slot), put the black toner in the magenta slot. If the black doesn't work...the slot is bad. At this point you should be able to call in a printer tech to actually do hands on troubleshooting.

The error says that "The transfer rollers in the ETB are not
engaged."

If replacing the ETB(electronic transfer belt) doesn't fix the problem, your printer is going to need a technician. Problem could be poor seating of the cables on the ETB motor or the 'transfer-roller separation solenoid or the DC Controller.
It could be a bad ETB motor or solenoid or DC Controller or high voltage power supply.
This isn't something that is going to be fixed by email.

So far as I can tell from HP PartSurfer and the service manual, the only way to change that roller is to change the entire paper pickup assembly. The part number for the latest version is RM1-2755-080CN.

You will need sight of the service manual for the installation instructions as a fairly extensive strip down is involved (all the cartridges, the transfer belt, duplex fan, front cover, output bin, fuser, upper cover, rear lower cover, left cover, and a small bracket and an internal cover along the way). It doesn't look that difficult a job, though it is unlikely that you will chance on the correct installation method without the instructions.


I'm not feeling that happy with HP. My fuser sleeve is damaged; toner sticks to part of it, ruining the printed pages as it comes unstuck. The sleeve is very hard to obtain (I can find some mention of it on Australian eBay whilst I'm in Europe) and there's no instructions to strip down the fuser and change the sleeve in the service manual. Instead, the service manual tells you to fit a complete new fuser and that is the only part listed on PartSurfer.

This leaves me with little other option than replacing the entire fuser, which is in extremely short supply and therefore only available at an elevated price <sigh>.

if u get red dots on print it may be problem with Red cartridge Lick age please check u r printer with Ok cartridge .if same problem with new cartridge then u need to clean Mirror built in lance assembly
