Before selecting the ring to answer, under stand what it is.. Press Menu button, scroll to fax set up with help of arrow keys, press ok button, scroll to answering mode. Select desired "auto, manual, fax & tele/fax. What are these? Auto: Auto aromatically tele mode will coverts in to fax mode irrespective of selected ring count. suppose if ring count selected as 4, printer will ring 4 times then stops ringing & converts in to fax mode. It doesn't matter whether it's telephone or fax. Manual: Printer always telephone mode. To convert in to fax mode, need to press fax button while ringing. Tele/Fax: Printer detects the incoming call type as tele(analog)or fax(digital) accordingly its will act. If its fax , line converts in fax mode with out any ring(silent detection), prints the received fax.If its telephone,printer rings as tele phone. * In auto mode only you need to select desired ring to answer(2-6 rings) There fore first you need to select "auto"mode, then scroll to ring to answer, press ok then select desired ring count, press ok to confirm..

Paper is too thin (use higher "pound" paper). -or- Toner is not of good quality (use HP Brand if possible) -or- Printer is set to dark or heavy in your page setup (change to normal or even light) You can also make sure you are using an HP print driver instead of a generic print driver. Go to HP.com and search print driver for you model, download and install (if you don't already have an HP printer driver loaded on your PC).

You didn't use HP ink and/or recycled paper is in your printer. Also check that dark/heavy ink is not selected on printer setup on the computer.

Turn off the printer wait 2 minutes, then switch on check. up date firmware, replace formatter assm.

Definitions

• The remote user pressed the Stop key, causing the session to be terminated.
• The remote machine encountered a system problem such as no paper or a paper jam. This prevented the fax from receiving any more pages, and caused it to terminate the session prematurely.
• The call-waiting service can cause this error. The click, heard for an incoming call, is actually a momentary disconnect of the line.
• The remote machine encountered an incompatible feature causing it to terminate the session.

Solutions

• Configure the remote machine for document reception by clearing any paper jams, loading sufficient paper, and clearing any other error messages.
• Configure the local fax machine to use a slower reception speed.
• Enable or disable the ECM setting.
