I have a 3800dtn. Replaced the blue cartridge and now I get error 54.17 and message says turn power off and back on. I did and I still get the error.

You need to clean any accumulated toner out of the area near the top of the cartridge cavity. This error indicates that the printer was unable to perform a color plane registration on the cyan cartridge. Any chance you left the pull tap in the cartridge?

Front door will not close

On the 3000/3600/3800 there are two sliding guides, one on each side of the printer that tend to break. There is also an expired service bulletin for the locking arms that hold the cartidges in. most likely the sliding guides and possibly the surrounding plastics are broken. RC1-6643-020CN Right guide, RC1-6636-000CN Left guide, RC1-6638-000CN Left slide cam are the three most common parts outside of the cartidge locks Q5982-67925. The tear down to get to these parts is fairly intensive for a non-tech, and requires some attention to alignment during reassembly or you'll get issues with the color printouts.

Why does it print with no color when the

I have worked/ serviced similar Laserjet Color Printer with same issue.
Actually, prints with faded colors or different colors are due the the dust/ toner dust accumulated on the optics (mirrors and lenses) inside the printer, which refect the laser beams to form prints. For instance, red color is formed by a mix of yellow and magenta toners. The color is replaced by yellow due the the partial or complete blocking of the image laser beam for magenta as the mirrors which reflect laser beam get covered with dust and toner (which partially blocks the laser beams). Hence the image is not produced properly. This needs professional hands for servicing and cleaning of the optics inside the printer. Note that first magenta goes off, followed by yellow, then cyan and lastly black. This is due to the mirrors placement inside the printer. Magenta is the last one facing upwards at 45 degrees angle and gets most of the dust and goes off first.

Rest assure that the printer requires ONLY CLEANING OF THE MIRRORS, which are inside the printer. So, it is advised that you get the printer serviced by any printer repair/ service professional. (Please note that the mirrors, lenses and scanner assembly inside such printers is extremely complex and can get damaged very easily especially the mirrors).

just try to clear whit wet cloth or alcohol paper feeding roller or replace it whit new one.

Try this

1. Turn the printer off and then on.
2. Try printing a job from a different
program. If the job prints, try printing a
different file from the original program.
If the message appears only with a
certain program or print job, contact
the software vendor for assistance.
3. If the message persists with different
programs and print jobs, disconnect all
of the printer cables that connect to
the network or the computer.
4. Turn the printer off.
5. Remove all memory DIMMs or thirdparty
DIMMs from the printer. (Do not
remove the firmware DIMM in the
lower slot J1).
6. Remove the printer EIO card.
7. Turn the printer on.
8. If the error does not persist, install
each DIMM and EIO device one at a
time. Turn the printer off and then on
again after installing each device.
9. Replace DIMMs and EIO devices as
necessary.
10. Reconnect all of the printer cables.
11. If the error persists, replace the
firmware DIMM.
12. Replace the formatter and calibrate
the printer.

I need to print both

Goto Start > Printers & Faxes Right-click your printer icon and select properties. Click 'Printing Preferences' button close to the bottom. In the new window you will see some drop-down list boxes for paper size, paper type etc. You will also see a list box captioned 'Print on both sides'. Select the correct value from this list and click 'Apply'. Close dialogs by clicking OK buttons.
