Try a nozell and head cleaning from the printer utilities its under printer properties /mantainance tab

how are you connect (usb?) change to LPT port ou network. Possible the job go stuck on the quere.
what printer model? whath memory the printer have?

I have had this same thing happen to my 960c! The ink cartridges were new/full (but must have been faulty). I replaced them with different/new ink cartridges, which solved the problem.

Another idea is to uninstall the printer and install it once again.

Refill or non-hp ink cartridges have been known to leak ink into the printer.

The color cartridge for this printer has three colors (cyan, magenta, and yellow) within it. So if one runs out or is dried up if throws the color out of wack. Try running the head cleaning first but replacing the color cartridge should correct the problem.

If color is coming out gray then you may have grayscale selected in your print settings. If color is just missing, check to see if the tape on the back and bottom of the cartridge has been compelety removed. If that is not it then run the head cleaning. If that doesn't correct it, then you just got a bad cartridge.

if you inserted the paper in your printer and you still having the error so this is not a paper error,

check is your cartridge carriage moving or not when you turn on the printer,
if the cartridge carriage not moving so this is might be the error of cartridges or cartridge carriage is not working,
try to remove your printer cartridge and clean it and if the error keep coming you need to take your printer to any local repair center. because its not a user service part.

Go to start, printers and faxes, delete the printer, then download a driver for your printer from the HP web site, then you install. It might be a driver problem.

Disconnect the printer from the computer. Then from Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features in Vista) make sure the printer software is uninstalled.

From Control Panel > Printers make sure the printer doesn't exist. Restart the computer then insert the setup CD and follow the prompts. Connect the printer when prompted in setup.

more often the not its the cable that is not working, but there are other things you might want to see here. if the printer is not being reconised by the computer then one of these situations may have happend..

1. failed printer controller module (usb port on printer)
2. Bad cable or a cable that is over 3ft in leghts can cause this issue.
3. Software not properly installed or is not comptable with the operating system, Hence windows 7 hates these printers.

Turn the printer on. Remove the cartridges. Gently clean the electric contacts on the cartridges and the cartridge carrier. Put the cartridges back in. If the light is still flashing, and your printer won't print, one of your cartridges is faulty. I suggest you go to the refill shop and consult them which cartridges needs a replacement.
Does any message appears on your monitor when you try to print something? Usually, a message saying "problem with black/color cartridge" or something similar, that's why I am asking.

probably it has a bad contact on the power line ....it is either a cable loose or jut the supply is damaged... if you thing you manage ..just open it and take a look ...my guess is that if you change the power supply it will work ..

by doing right clcik on my computer icon - then properties- hardware - device manager - under universal bus controller - check if you have any red cross if its teher then rigfht clickon tht and enable it
If not then do a right clcikon usb and click on uninstall and then do a rigfht clcukon universal bus controller and clcikon scan for harwasdr changes and make sure that the printer is connected
