Check your batteries. Static can be a sign of a bad or low battery. Swap batteries between the units to see if the problem moves to another radio. Also, check your antenna and antenna connection. Best regards.

theres a little tab on the top of the clip you need to depress

25 hours is in standby only, not with receiving or transmitting, both draw much more current off the batteries

I am assuming that you are speaking of the charger. The Red LED shows that the charger is plugged into the wall. It does not show the charge status of the radio. These are very simple units, and it is not a "smart" charger.

Press and hold the call button until the "L" goes away.

TX means to "Transmit" or to broadcast from your walkie talkie.

This model has a "Monitor Mode" feature that allows you to listen for weak signals on the current channel at the press of a key. 1.) To turn ON monitor mode: Press and hold the volume/monitor up or down key. The rx icon will blink. 2.) To turn OFF monitor mode: Press the volume/monitor up or down key. The rx icon will stop blinking.

You have to be on the saame channel as them.
