PSC 1401 will print but it will not scan

you'll also need to unplug the printer from the power outlet and keep it like that for about 15 minutes. With the spooler empty, this should clear out the memory of the printer and get you back to a fresh start. This happened a lot with HP 1000 lasers, it's the first time I hear another model having the same issue... but the basic problem is the same, the spooler sends a Get Ready command to the printer, then processes the print document and sends it off. If you erase the document before it's sent to print, or the printer doesnt echo with OK to Print, then the spooler sits and waits for the printer to get ready, and the printer for some reason gets stuck with a Get Ready command without responding back. So clearing the spooler and turning off the printer for 15 seconds usually fixes the problem.

Hello, first try reloading the cd that came with it, if that doesn't work then the printer is bad and either needs to be repaired or replace.

Check your Cartridges.

no need of ip address....download driver software in hp website and install...automatically ip will be assigned

That wonderful world where unbeknownst to you but knownst to us (OK I watch Spaceballs WAY TOO MUCH) When you are sending a print job, somehow the paper size setting has been changed. Either in the printer itself, or in the print properties settings in your OS.Double-check those paper size settings and try to print. If it still happens, try resetting the print settings in the printer back to factory default. Make sure you print out the printer configuration before resetting in case you need to reinstall those settings.

sometimes when you change a cartridge it happenes that we touch or somehow dirty the contacts inside the machine, cleaning them with a soft rag and a little spirits should help,remember to clean the contacts on the cartridge as well
